In a Friday April 24 afternoon conference call, the National Honda, Acura Examiner spoke with Thomas Ramsay; Acura’s Principal Engineer and Acura NSX Aerodynamics-Thermal project leader. Two days earlier Acura had presented a series of technical specifications and CAD generated images of NSX inner workings to the auto engineers of the world. On careful review of Acura’s SAE World Conference transcript and technical image presentation, we believe that 2016 Acura NSX will change the world’s measure of automotive performance.
Ramsay shared with Examiner the crucial role that air induction, exhale and aero-thermal-dynamics, as presented by Acura engineers at the Detroit SAE World Conference, plays into every aspect of Acura 2016 NSX design. Featuring near intuitive drive command response, train- track-like directional traction and subsequent handling prowess, 2016 Acura NSX gasoline/electric hybrid is like no other supercar on the road today.
According to Ramsey: The measured control of air intake and exhale directly influences not only the intense heat removal from the NXS mid-mounted engine, but impacts the uplift, down-force and drag coefficient,(lift balance) effectively enhancing NSX traction control, road-handling and near intuitive driver command to automobile response. Ramsey spoke on to assure Examiner that the cockpit is leather glove comfortable, and 100% isolated from heat and noise generating mechanical and electronic components.
Furthermore, exterior air intake and body extrusion(mirrors, etc) wind buffeting has been eliminated through perfecy placement as the result of countless hours of CFD computer simulation and scale model wind tunnel testing. The fact that this 170 mph, 580 + horsepower supercar will be a comparable bargain(estimated MSRP -$180,000) when released in the fall of 2015 is simply the icing on the cake that is the most advanced high performance automotive design in Honda Motors history.
Acura Division Vice President and General Manager Mike Accavitti states it like this: ‘When released for public sale sometime in late 2015, 2016 NSX will have no equal peers in the supercar segment.’ Or something to that effect. Mr. Accavitti of Team Acura is very excited as to the future of NSX and what this Halo car brings to the Acura Division.
