Hua Hin is one of Thailand’s most iconic holiday destinations, and it regularly draws visitors from around the world. It is famous for its beaches, wineries and laid back village atmosphere. On April 25, 2015, I had the opportunity to visit this seaside resort town and discover a hidden gem for families and golf lovers at Banyan Thailand golf club and resort. If you are interested in learning more, or if you want to make a reservation, please contact Banyan Golf Club, Hua Hin at firstname.lastname@example.org
Banyan The Resort Hua Hin
Banyan The Resort is located minutes from the center of Hua Hin and is the ideal holiday destination for families, couples and golfers. It is the preferred weekend resort by residents living in Bangkok and nearby cities. The Resort has been heralded as one of the best golf resorts in South East Asia. Set in a beautifully landscaped environment and complimented by world-class facilities, the idyllic resort is comprised of two and one bedroom villas, tropical gardens, infinity swimming pools, a spa, a fitness center, and dining venues serving Thai and international cuisine. The Resort offers golfers a courtesy shuttle service to the golf club and offers preferred rates to play the course.
1. Family Friendly Poolside Villas
Banyan The Resort is tailor made for family friendly vacations. The two bedroom, two bath 120 meter villas offer everything you need to feel “at home” when you’re away. The villa I stayed in was beautifully landscaped with plenty of indoor and outdoor living space including a large backyard terrace with private jacuzzi connecting to a large common lagoon-style pool. The bright and airy villa comfortably sleeps 2 adults and two children and has soaring cathedral ceilings in the living and dining room that evokes a sense of grandeur to the space. There is free Wi-Fi, satellite cable and two television sets so that there is no fighting over the remote control. Oddly enough, cooking is prohibited in the full-sized kitchen, but access to a large fridge and microwave make it easy to store your own drinks and snacks. Daily hotel rates include a generous all you can eat buffet breakfast in the morning and there are two restaurants named Splash and Lemon Grass as well as room service available for additional onsite dining.
2. Cooking Classes with Chef Romain Aletru
A fairly recent addition to Banyan The Resort, Chef Romain Aletru has been revamping the menu and bringing a new integrity to the cuisine on offer at the restaurants. He is committed to sourcing fresh ingredients and working with high quality food producers and enjoys preparing food that is seasonal and light. A French national and graduate of Lycée Hôtelier de La Rochelle, he spent time in Tahiti before coming to Hua Hin in 2012. Chef Romain has a real passion for cooking and his talents are especially astute when it comes to making desserts.
Guests are invited to interact on a personal level with Chef Romain and learn a few of his culinary secrets by booking an afternoon cooking class. One my visit I learned how to make a delectable Banoffee dessert made from banana, shortbread, cream and homemade salted caramel. Chef Romain is very approachable and easy to talk to as he is constantly giving cooking tips, encouraging questions, and allowing guests to get involved with every step of the cooking process, including plating. To top it off, everyone gets a certificate of completion which is a thoughtful souvenir, and the best part is you get to eat the final product.
3. The Exclusivity of Golf Club Suite Accommodations
For die hard golf lovers, one of the most unique options at Banyan is their exclusive club suite accommodations. This is an opportunity to stay in one of only four private bungalows located at the club house complex on the golf course. These enchanting rooms sleep up to two people and put you right in the middle of everything. You are just steps away from the pub and restaurant, yet in a dedicated space that offers the ultimate in privacy. The architecture is a wooden and cozy traditional Thai structure with tastefully decorated interiors that include rain head showers, 42″ flat screen TV’s, DVD player, music system, satellite TV and mini bar. There is a lovely ‘sala’ in the courtyard for getting a massage on, or mediating, and one of the four suites features a private infinity pool. These rooms are highly coveted and need to be booked well in advance. Guests can enjoy breakfast for two, a 20% discount on food and beverage outlets and special rates on tee times when staying in the golf club suites.
4. Award Winning 18 Hole Golf Course
The Banyan championship golf course is an extraordinary achievement, and offers a world class golf experience that is in a class all by itself. Designed and constructed by Thailand’s leading golf course architect, Pirapon Namatra this award winning golf course offers golfers a picturesque but challenging course with both sea and mountain views. The contemporary Thai style designed clubhouse features luxurious changing rooms and access to Mulligan’s Pub for cocktails and beer on the green. The Terrace Restaurant serves tasty and authentic Thai cuisine as well as international dishes and they are famous for their breath taking sunset views of the Burmese mountains. All 18 holes of the golf course can be seen from the restaurant and there is no better way to unwind after a full day on the golf course then with a bottle of Banyan’s signature red or white wine that was created especially for the hotel by a local Hua Hin winery.
5. Private BBQ at Villa
Take your dining experience to the next level by opting for the private poolside BBQ at your villa. The culinary team at Banyan The Resort will come to your villa and set up a full service barbeque in your backyard for as few as two people on up to a group of ten or more. The delectable spread includes Vegetarian Spring Rolls, Caesar Salad, Avocado & Mango Salad, Corn-on- the Cob, Baked Potatoes w/ Toppings, fresh Baked Rolls, and Egg Fried Rice as accompaniments. For the grill there is Austrian Rib-eye Steak, marinated Pork, Chicken, fresh River Prawns, Rock Lobster Tails and Banana Wrapped Snapper along with Seasonal Fruit for dessert. The chef will stay onsite and grill all your food for you so you can enjoy the evening with none of the hassle or stress of food prep or clean-up.
6. Pampering at The Villa Spa
Located in a separate villa at the resort, The Villa Spa is an understated space that offers a wide range of affordable and professional beauty and spa services. They feature a diverse selection of services such as manicures and pedicures along with foot massages and even a baby foot massage for the little ones. The treatments are designed to release stress and restore balance and the menu of ‘east-meets-west’ therapies includes facials and body scrubs , Thai massage, aromatherapy massage, Thai herbal compress, and a relaxing back, neck and shoulder option. On my visit I opted for the 60 minute aroma therapy and 30 minute back, neck and shoulder massage. The courteous and professional staff made sure to ask about preferences such as where I like to be massaged, where to avoid, and how hard or soft to make it. The spa is open daily from 900AM to 700PM and you need to make an appointment in advance to reserve a space.
