It’s the house that Hannah Montana built
Miley’s family bought the house when she was 14 and star of the hit TV show “Hannah Montana” (2006-2011). Now she’s 22, and owns a house in the hills in Studio City not far away, and her parents own a house nearby. It was originally in her parents name, but in 2012 country musician Billy Ray Cyrus and his wife Letisha, or Tish deeded the house over to her. The parents live a block away.
It’s got a skateboard ramp
There are a lot of quirks to the house. There’s a huge skateboard ramp built in the back. Inside, there’s a music room with a lot of guitars, a room with black skull wallpaper, cheetah carpeting, a guitar room, huge closets and a pool.
It’s big and expensive
They tried to sell the house as a pocket listing, but that fell through and it’s now on sale for $5,995,000. It’s an 8,700 square-foot-house on a 27,000-square-foot lot. It has 6 bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms.
Freddie Prinze Jr. used to own it.
The house was previously owned by Freddie Prinze Jr. but he never really moved in because he was getting together with his “Scooby-Doo” co-star Sarah Michelle Gellar. It was previously owned by the creator of the “Bob Newhart Show” who also didn’t spend much time in it before selling it.
Celebrity neighbors complained
Bob Hope and his family lived in the house behind this house, and comedian Steve Carell, lives across the street. In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine about living in the house Miley said “he always gives me the stank-eye because I drive so fast.” According to Perez Hilton, “If she throws parties that look anything like her We Can’t Stop video, we imagine living next-door to her would be pretty damn annoying!”
Jason Priestley, Ashley Tisdale, Demi Lovato, The Jonas Brothers, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Hilary and Haylie Duff all call Toluca Lake home.
The property is secure
The house was broken into three times over two years, and that has plagued Miley no matter where she lives. This entire property is secured with a camera-equipped security system. The first time this place was broken into was in November 2013 just days before Miley’s 21st birthday and the second time was an incident last June where two burglars made off with the singer’s Maserati Quattroporte which was worth about $100,000. Recently, burglars made off with some jewelry and personal items from her brother.
It’s a Tuscan-inspired compound
It’s called a “Tuscan Inspired Compound” designed by Montecito-based architect Bob Easton that has copper rain gutters, a long entry driveway, wrought iron accents, rustic wood beams, a three-car garage, a red clay tile room, ivy-covered walls, stone fireplace mantels, formal living and dining rooms, a small room just for hanging guitars on the walls, a center island kitchen and a family room with a fireplace and wet bar as well as a home theater and a “Juliet” balcony.
