Earth Day was yesterday, but celebrations of our natural planet will continue well into the weekend. In surrounding locales you will encounter numerous Earth Day events and celebrations, and the borough of Gettysburg is no exception. One such happening is the Gettysburg Green Gathering.
Head over to the Adams County Ag Center on Saturday, April 25, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to take part in all the great green goodness going on! As a family/pet friendly event, you can bring everyone along for this continuous celebration that will include food vendors, live music, and a multitude of activities for all to enjoy.
This green festival has an educational initiative to educate, inspire, and foster environmental stewardship in the daily lives of Adams County citizens and businesses using artistic, creative, and informative activities. The organizers of this annual event include a diverse group of locals who all share a common mission in promoting healthy, sustainable environmental practices.
Many sustainable-living vendors will be present as well as special environmental educators who will share interesting information, tips, practices, and knowledge about green living. At 10 a.m., the York-Adams Pharmaceutical Stewardship Alliance will share their know-how on protecting the environment from pharmaceutical pollutants through properly disposing medications and other health care products. Strawberry Hill Nature Preserve will present an informative program during the 11 a.m. hour, and by noon, there will be a program from Barlow Worm Composting. Learn all about Beekeeping for beginners from Shady Rest Apiaries at 1 p.m., and then learn about organic produce and livestock practices in Adams County with Oyler’s Organic Farms at 2 p.m. Other special featured educators for this event include Land Conservancy of Adams County, 100 Fold Farm, Adams Electric Cooperative, Inc., GettysByrd Houses, Gettysburg Borough Recycling, Adams County Master Gardeners, Ever Blossom Farms, Adams County Art Council/Recyclable Art, FarmHouse Gettysburg College, and many others.
Gettysburg Green Gathering is also a great chance to hear great local musicians live, in-person. At this year’s event, The Inside will take to the stage first at 11 a.m. followed by Hold the Wheel at noon. Have a spooky good time with Pale Barn Ghost at 1 p.m. followed by Blackhand at 2 p.m. Finally, go a little crazy with Schizophonic at 3 p.m.
From workshops, vendors, activities, and an all-out festival and celebration, you’re not going to want to miss this third installment of the annual Gettysburg Green Gathering. The Gettysburg Green Gathering will be held at the Adams County Ag Center at 670 Old Harrisburg Road, Gettysburg, PA 12725.
