Woodruff Family Law Group is spending some of their free time, away from the office, finding ways to help those going through the divorce process. The program called, “A Guide to Divorce Recovery” was inspired by Woodruff Family Law Group’s owner and President, Carolyn J. Woodruff. Having experienced her own divorce several years ago, and now in the marriage she always hoped for, Carolyn wants to help her clients find constructive ways to build a new life for them and for their children. At the same time, today, a donation from the firm’s first event is on its way to Wine to Water.
“We see so many people every day. We want each of them to find ways to get past the sadness and regain their inner strength and happiness. So, throughout the entire year, I am having my attorneys and support staff take time to think and create ways to make the best of special holidays and everyday moments while going through a divorce. We started off by having the staff in 4 separate teams. Their goal was to create a wonderful Valentine’s Day by encompassing the wardrobe, location, food and recipes and even healthy activities. Each team that presented their ideas, came up with something completely different. We hope to share each team’s findings in the coming months,” says Woodruff.
The winning team, who called themselves “Team Vino” had a multitude of useful ideas for a man to remain a gentleman and woo a lady on Valentine’s Day date including conversation tips:
• Keep her engaged
• Keep the conversation lively
• Do not talk about yourself too much
• Do not bore her with details about your prior relationship (unless you have children) as you are not on Dr. Phil
• Focus the conversation on your date and her interests (and try to look interested)
IMPORTANT: STAY OFF OF YOUR PHONE – that means texting too – leave it in the car!
“Team Vino” was also awarded with the responsibility of selecting a charitable organization to donate $100. They chose Wine To Water, an organization that provides clean water and sanitation to those who need it across the globe.
“Wine to Water was founded in Boone, North Carolina, during the time I was attending Appalachian State University. I have followed their work closely over the years and have a close friend who presently works for them full time. I have been more than impressed by both,” says Woodruff Family Law Group Associate, Adam Furr.
“Poor sanitation affects 2.5 billion people worldwide. An estimated 200 hours are spent each day collecting water that is often contaminated with disease, killing one child every 21 seconds. We are always thankful for every dollar we receive in donations. For every dollar we receive, we are able to provide clean water for one person for one year,” says Wine To Water, CEO, David Cuthbert.
Woodruff Family Law Group staff are looking forward to taking on some more challenges, more fun and more opportunities to support their favorite charities throughout 2015.
