In the first part of the seven part mini-series where we follow Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwater, Captain America: The First Avenger) as she balances her everyday job while doing secret missions for Howard Stark (aka Tony Stark/Iron Man’s dad) during the 1940s. Fans of the comic book and of the TV show Agents of SHIELD, have learned or know that Hayley helped create SHIELD which is the basis for the whole Marvel universe.
In this week’s episode, titled ‘Time and Tide’, Carter learns that it’s going to be hard to trust anyone in her life, including Stark and Jarvis, while learning that there is a bigger picture to the story that she is now involved in.
SSR is investigating Vanko’s apartment they find his type writer and all his money and passports. He looked like he was a man of many names.
Thompson/Dooley/Ray are going over Vanko and Van Eert’s body. Sousa identifies the car to being Stark’s and of course Dooley is happy with this news as he wants to put the blame on Stark.
Carter continues to adjust to her life in her new house and how a one of the girls get kicked out. But she gets inspired. She wants to investigate how someone was able to break into Stark’s safe. Things get complicated when Thompson/Sousa show up and ask about the car. Which means Jarvis has to try and go and clean up the mess that is made.
During interrogation, Thompson asks Jarvis about his connection with Vanko and Van Eert and whether or not they are connected to Stark. And they bring up what they think is a trump card. The fact that Jarvis committed treason when he was in the military and then threaten with his green card.
Carter tries to help Jarvis out by announcing about the stolen car report. This of course results in her getting yelled at by Dooley. Stark better be right for what he’s making Carter go through at her job.
Carter/Jarvis get back to work as they investigate the safe robbing. And Carter might have stumbled upon something. She thinks the robber used the water to help move the safe. When they get to the end, they get a major clue as the symbol that Van Eert drew Carter is painted on a boat.
During their investigation, Jarvis tells Carter about how he got accused of treason. He forged his general’s signature so that he could save his wife’s life. One of those tough situations that you can understand why he did what he did.
On the boat, they find the Constrictor. And then there is a dilemma. Carter wants to report it and Jarvis wants to keep it as a secret. He says its to protect her but it makes you wonder if it’s more to protect Stark. So they compromise. Jarvis calls it in.
Sousa and Ray clean up the area including taking the muscle into custody. On the way to transport, a car approaches and takes out Ray and the muscle. Looks like someone is cleaning up house.
Carter sees the consequences to her actions as she finds out that Ray is dead. SSR thinks that the tip was on purpose to take them down. Dooley’s hate for Stark raises another level with Ray’s death. Carter is certainly going to think twice before acting again.
In the next part, which will be back in two weeks, Carter has to fight to protect Captain America’s name from Stark.
