Bobbi: “I work for S.H.I.E.L.D., I do. I swear. But you don’t.”
“One Door Closes” is the March 31 episode of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Warning: this article contains spoilers. Be sure to check out the slideshow for more quotes from the episode. “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” airs Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. CT on ABC.
One thing that comes across nicely is that Bobbi and Mac really do care about Coulson’s team. Mac protected Fitz. Bobbi constantly stood up for Skye, saying that she wasn’t a monster and that she was a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. This helped prove that Bobbi and Mac are truly doing what they believe is the best thing for S.H.I.E.L.D., and that it wasn’t just a line to make it seem like they were different than Hydra.
The flashbacks showed the day when S.H.I.E.L.D. fell. For the most part, the scenes weren’t all that interesting. It’s a bunch of fight scenes. What was great was seeing who believed that Fury’s orders should be followed. Bobbi and Commander Gonzalez were all for following Fury, but Mac wasn’t.
Then, it was Bobbi’s suggestion that S.H.I.E.L.D. was a democracy that clearly was the driving force for this new S.H.I.E.L.D.. Bobbi and Mac actually started all of this. It wasn’t Commander Gonzalez or Agent Weaver or anyone else who was at that table talking to Hunter. What do you think of this development?
Gotta admit, Coulson made a great point to Gonzalez. If he had a problem with Coulson running S.H.I.E.L.D. or wanted to pass along ideas on how to change the organization, then he should have just talked to Coulson. Everything has to be so dramatic and secretive with this organization. Do you think Coulson would have been responsive to Gonzalez if he simply came and shared his thoughts on how S.H.I.E.L.D. should be run?
Gordon decided to pay Skye a visit. It’s awfully sweet of him. No one else has stopped by to see how she is doing. Gordon actually helped Skye to have a honest conversation about what Skye is going through, specifically how Skye feels when her powers are doing their thing. It was great to see how open Skye was with him about this.
There’s going to be a Simmons and Skye fight, isn’t there? Gordon hinted that maybe Simmon’s intentions weren’t completely pure in giving Skye those gloves, and then Skye defended her. It would not be surprising if Skye learned the truth about the gloves, and that they are slowly draining her powers or something. Do you think Simmons is hiding the true purpose of those gloves?
Skye went with Gordon to wherever he takes people like them. Simmons, Fitz, and May are with the “real” S.H.I.E.L.D.. Coulson is off on a beach somewhere with Hunter, who just signed a napkin contract to join Coulson’s team. The team is separated and under attack. Right now, it is hard to see how they will all manage to succeed.
