Laurel: “She saved my sister’s life. She gave her a home. She’s a good person, in spite of everything she grew up with. Last time I checked, protecting good people, that is what we do.”
“Al Sah-Him” is the April 29 episode of “Arrow.” Warning, this article contains spoilers. Be sure to check out the slideshow for more quotes from the episode. “Arrow” airs Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. CT on the CW.
The entirety of this episode is about proving that Oliver Queen is gone. He has turned his back on everything he once was, including his friendships and loyalty. It’s a one note episode, but it needed to be done to convince everyone that Oliver is not just pretending to go along with the League. He has shed his old life.
We didn’t see the three weeks of brainwashing, so there needed to be time spent showing how different Oliver has become. As soon as it was shown that the League brainwashes people, it wasn’t hard to buy that Oliver has changed. Diggle and Felicity were in denial.
Come on, Felicity and Diggle saw the League raise Thea from the dead. They have magical healing waters. You don’t think they can do some intense brainwashing? As much as they wanted to believe Oliver was too good to fall for the League’s tricks, they should have at least acknowledged the possibility. Did their denial bother anyone else?
Also, the brainwashing intel came from Nyssa, the daughter of the demon, who knows more about the league than anyone Team Arrow knows. While Laurel was struggling to believe it, she did listen to Nyssa, but it wasn’t until after she saw Oliver in Al Sah-Him mode that she really believed it. This was a much better reaction to the brainwashing news.
Oliver was totally going to kill Nyssa. He was ready, and then Ra’s decided to throw a wedding instead. Oliver and Nyssa’s faces after Ra’s decided they were to be wed were absolutely fantastic. They both wished they were dead. There needs to be so much more of awkward Nyssa and Oliver together. Do we even know if Nyssa is interesting in men? We only know that she has been with Sara. What do you think everyone will make of this match?
Ra’s wasn’t done dealing twists. He told Oliver the next step was to wipe out Starling City with the Alpha and Omega virus. Okay, while this ties into the flashbacks, it still doesn’t excuse the flashbacks. They have been boring and have interrupted the momentum of the episode.
