Artisan Bistro, is a company that features non genetically modified (GMO) meals, some for two, some for one. Their meals are microwavable, for those of you who like convenience, but they do have bowls as well as bakes. Their food is organic certified and tastes great. Well according to the samples I received. The salmon was good, although there were some dislikes in the family when it came to certain small parts of the three meals we sampled. They were small complaints, such as the veggies were a bit bland and the rice was slightly mushy, who likes rice like mush? However, I feel that the meals stand the same stand as any microwave meal, you don;t usually find great rice cooked in a microwave.
From non GMO food to organic, food should be your medicine. For years we dealt with microwave food that was just bad for you. People ate it up, although most of it just tasted real bad. Artisan Bistro meals are separated. The veggies and the meats, and they are frozen so they stay good until you are ready for them. Then you cook and mix as you want. I think the sauces for the Salmon dishes we got were already on the meat but it cooked up well, anyhow. The wife mostly took these to work with her and kept them in the company’s freezer until her break. They made great meals for this because most people that work do not have a lot of time for lunch break, unfortunately, and so within a minute or so, lunch can be ready.
They were good tasting, packaged well and the portions were better than most microwave meals. Something that has always been a big turn off for us with microwave meals is the fact that even after cooking them, there is not even enough food in there to sustain a person. So Artisan Bistro has done well here as well. However, 4 stars because when it comes to the portion size for 2 people, their meals for two just do not stand up. The meals for two were more like a meal for 1 and we are not pigs here. We are portion eating people and still, the meals for 2 were just not large enough for 2 adults. There is good use of herbs and spices in the meals we sampled.
If it matters, which it does to us, they do have a good selection of Asian style dishes as well as seafood style dishes. For those that are trying to eat better as well as trying to eat organic and non GMO, they make good with that as well. Not leaving out the crowd that tries not to eat dairy and gluten, their meals are also free of these ingredients. Over all, not bad, make better on the portions and we have a winner!
