Back in 2013, Grand Theft Auto V introduced players to a three-protagonist story model and the feature that helped bring them together was one of the most innovative features we’ve seen in a while. Players could simply switch from one character to another with the transition being seamless.
Rocksteady Studios has taken note of this feature and is now implementing it into their upcoming title Batman Arkham Knight. Set to launch on June 23, Batman Arkham Knight will mark the first time in series history that players can jump from playing as Batman to play as Robin, Nightwing or Catwoman, seamlessly.
The immediate transition looks to provide people with a new level of freedom that wasn’t present in the series before. When we saw the feature implemented in GTA 5, switching from Michael to Trevor was a funny thing because we would find each of them in the middle of an activity unique to their personality. Perhaps we’ll see the same thing with each of the supporting characters in Batman Arkham Knight.
Warner Bros. also released a brand-new trailer, as you can see above, and it reveals more details behind the game’s story. We’ve known Batman Arkham Knight was going to be a darker tale for quite sometime now, but with each trailer that gets released, that theme only continues to become more and more obvious.
In a statement sent by Warner Bros., fans can now pick-up the Season Pass DLC for Arkham Knight. “Both the Batman: Arkham Knight Season Pass and Batman: Arkham Knight Premium Edition are now available for preorder from participating retailers. The Season Pass is priced at $39.99 and the Premium Edition, which includes both the Season Pass and the main game, is priced at $99.99.
“The Batman: Arkham Knight Season Pass will deliver regular new content for six months post-launch including new story missions, additional super-villains invading Gotham City, legendary Batmobile skins, advanced challenge maps, alternative character skins, and new drivable race tracks. The Batman: Arkham Knight Premium Edition includes the main game and the Season Pass,” the release stated.
Batman Arkham Knight marks the first-time in series history that a game has not come to the PS3 or Xbox 360. The game will be launching on the PS4, Xbox One and PC. It will arrive on June 23, and we’ll be sure to keep you updated with any new details that emerge in the meantime.
