Stop and ask yourself the question, “How much do I believe in what I read or experience in life?” We would do well to ask ourselves this question daily.
Believing in something consists of two levels. The first level is believing in something because it is thought to be true (information level). A person may not have all the facts and figures to back up their belief but what they do understand seems to be trustworthy.
The second believing level is believing in something because it was experienced (experiential level). People come to this level to test information by experiencing it. Their experience becomes a confirmation of what a they thought was true.
There will be times when an individual doesn’t have the capabilities to experience what is thought to be true. As a result that person has to trust in what he or she believes without the experience. Such a situation may require more faith and trust to eventually gain an experience since past experiences are not available to rely upon.
At other times the experiences are available and make the truth more valuable to remember. Information is therefore confirmed and a solid base for believing is established.
Some people refuse to go to the experience level and gain confirmation. They only want to believe at the information level and assume things are true or false.
When a person believes in God and His Word, that person needs to understand that God wants an “experiencing relationship”. He doesn’t want people to just know about Him and His Word. God doesn’t want individuals to just assume that He exists. The Lord wants interaction.
Our Heavenly Father desires a relationship with people whereby they experience Him and come to know Him. God wants activity with people.
Too many sit back and only have a knowledge about God. Such people have not advanced themselves into experiencing God and His Word. It’s one thing to know about truth but it’s quite another thing to experience it.
Just knowing about God doesn’t bring a full understanding of who He is and what He can do. Knowledge without experience can bring doubt and confusion. To really know God is to experience Him.
The Lord provides both believing levels in order to grow and mature into what He wants us to be. Don’t stop at just knowing about God by reading His Word. Progress into experiencing God to know that His promises, His blessings, His healings and His miracles are true.
Come to know the Lord in a greater way!
