Buckhead is booming. There’s high-rise offices and condos, restaurants, a new streetscape and new construction just about everywhere you look. It almost rivals Midtown as live, work, play area, especially with the new bridge over 400 and upcoming Path400 trail. Whether you are a tourist, in town for business, commuting to work or a Buckhead resident, there’s something for you near the Buckhead MARTA station. Here are some of the top destinations in walking distance to make the most of your visit. Click the links to get directions and more information.
Lenox Square Mall
Both the Buckhead and Lenox MARTA stations serve Lenox Square Mall, known for its shops as well as Macy’s Great Tree, the start of the Peachtree Road Race, and its large firework show on the Fourth of July.
If one mall isn’t enough, head to the second one across the street from Lenox Square. Phipps has higher-end stores as well as a movie theater and the LEGOLAND Discovery Center.
One of the closest hotels to MARTA, the W Buckhead has a rooftop bar and lounge (Whiskey Blue) that is a popular nightlife spot. Don’t miss the views of downtown Atlanta.
AMC Fork and Screen
One of the few movie theaters a short walk from MARTA, the AMC Fork and Screen in Buckhead has food and alcohol for a complete dinner and movie night.
As the closest restaurant to the station, the Corner Bakery is just across Ga. 400 from the Buckhead station’s Peachtree Road exit. You eat a quick breakfast, lunch or dinner or order coffee and dessert.
Maggiano’s Little Italy
Next to the Corner Bakery is Maggiano’s for classic Italian dining. There are also rooms that can be reserved for larger parties and events.
Del Frisco’s Grille
It’s hard to pass up a patio restaurant in Atlanta, and Del Frisco’s Grille has a double-decker one. Choose from brunch, lunch or dinner. From the station, exit via Peachtree Road and take the first set of stairs out of the station to street level. Turn left on Peachtree Road and walk slightly less than a block.
Across from Del Frisco’s is The Palm, a fine dining restaurant and steakhouse. The restaurant is inside the Westin Hotel, which is convenient to the MARTA station as well as Lenox Square Mall.
Post Stratford and Skyhouse Buckhead
These two apartment communities are right next to the new Buckhead bridge entrance to the station, making it very easy to commute to the airport or to jobs near other MARTA stations. Post Stratford is an older, more townhome-like community with tree-lined streets while Skyhouse is a glass apartment tower.
Buckhead Station Shopping Center
Near the north end of the MARTA station via the Tower Place/Buckhead Bridge exit out of the station is the Buckhead Station Shopping Center. You’ll find major stores here such as Toys R Us, Old Navy, DSW, Nordstrom Rack, TJ Maxx, Ulta and Bed, Bath and Beyond. With traffic often bad in this area, MARTA is a useful commute option.
