Just in time for Toy Fair, Bif Bang Pow! renewed its agreement with Universal Partnerships & Licensing to produce new toys and collectibles inspired by the Coen Brothers movie classic The Big Lebowski.
The company showed off its new 12-inch Jeff Lebowski deluxe action figure (accessories including bowling ball, clothing, interchangeable hands, White Russian drink and, of course, the infamous rug that “ties it all together”). Also forthcoming are other six- to 24-inch figures, along with talking key chains, journals, tin totes, license plate frames, sun shades, car flags, tin windup figures, and wooden nesting and kokeshi-style dolls.
“We started our journey into the collectible world way back when with The Dude and Walter, and we’re thrilled that we’re getting another chance to make more cool stuff for all those The Big Lebowski fans out there,” said Bif Bang Pow! co-founder Jason Lenzi. “Just wait til you see what we have planned! The Dude abides, and so does Bif Bang Pow!.”
But fellow co-founder Jason Labowitz, also president of Bif Bang Pow! supplier Entertainment Earth, was even more excited about new KISS merchandise, a “dream come true” for an avowed diehard fan.
“I think for me as a fan growing up with the music and tons of merchandise, the challenge and excitement was to figure out how to build a new, unique line, that’s fresh and relevant and appealing to the collector,” said Labowitz. “We’ve seen it all—but we haven’t seen this before!”
Specifically, Labowitz was referring to a KISS umbrella with artwork on both outside and inside—and a light-up shaft with a flashlight on the bottom.
“You can walk down the street representing KISS, and then use the flashlight!” said Labowitz, who also took special pride in the KISS light-up journal: “Each KISS letter on the cover lights up and blinks in succession—like they do on stage at KISS concerts. And the journal pages have both ruled lines and sheet music lines.”
Rounding out the new KISS merch are 3 ¾-inch action figures and retro tin totes and drinkware. Bif Bang Pow!’s Twilight Zone line also has new 3 ¾-inch action figures, while its Saturday Night Live product has been expanded with 40th anniversary items including shot glasses and coaster set, as well as Ambiguously Gay Duo Ace and Gary eight-inch action figures and Monitor Mates, Schweddy Balls Christmas ornaments and Dick in a Box tin tote, wearable gift box costume set and salt and pepper shakers.
Among new merchandise from other vendors carried by Entertainment Earth, marketing supervisor Marc Ilagan cited an exclusive with Funko whereby each week an exclusive product is featured, including the various Batman 75th Anniversary Rainbow Batman Pop! Vinyl Figures.
“We highlighted yellow, purple, and on Valentine’s Day, pink!” said Ilagan.
