The list of Bill Cosby accusers continues to grow this week, with 19 women now claiming to be victims of rape or sexual assault. Yet in a breaking update, an old guard for Cosby is now admitting that the popular comedian used to pay girls that visited his dressing room in order to stay “quiet” about what activity went on inside. The United Press International News shares the latest details in the shocking scandal against this television guru this Tuesday, November 25, 2014.
Fans may not want to believe it, but the Bill Cosby accusers continue to come out of the woodwork pointing figures at the 77-year-old comedian. While some cases are purportedly out of the statute of limitations in terms of timeliness of the past crimes, no less than 19 women have come forward to say they were raped or sexually assaulted by Cosby. Ever since a U.S. standup comedian said that the funnyman was a rapist, the abuse allegations have only mounted.
The charges are very serious; Cosby is being accused in a very public way of a variety of criminal scandals, including rape, assault, and subsequent attempted sexual assault. What’s more, adds the press release, many of these 19 women’s accounts are eerily comparable. The alleged victims often say that the comedian would promise them fame, money, and fortune — thus being “seduced” by Bill Cosby — but would then be taken advantage of or drugged afterwards. Some have claimed they were given drugs, pills, or drinks likely spiked — the funnyman would then rape them when they could not fight back.
The biggest update in the Billy Cosby accusers story this week is that a past NBC employee, who worked as a guard of sorts for Cosby, is coming clean on what happened in the TV star’s dressing room. The man is admitting that Cosby would often invite girls, actresses, and models behind closed doors. He then alleges Cosby would pay them off well in order to make sure they stayed quiet.
According to the New York Daily News, the rape cases set against the titular “Cosby Show” comedian are spanning from the early 1960s all the way to the mid 2000s. Despite all of the rumors of scandal and sexual assault, both Cosby and his legal attorneys are staying firm in denying all of the claims.
The former employee for NBC, identified as 90-year-old Frank Scotti, says the Bill Cosby accusers — at least some of the 19 women coming forward — are likely telling the truth. Scotti admits Cosby had everyone — especially the girls he would bring into his dressing room — fooled, and would pay pricey amounts, over $2,000 every few weeks, to women who visited him for “acts” within.
“He had everybody fooled,” Scotti told the New York Daily News. “Nobody suspected … [I feel] sorry for the women. I was suspicious that something was going on. I suspected that he was having sex with them because the other person he was sending money to [Thompson], he was definitely having sex with.”
The door guard added that Cosby was choosy with whom he would bring backstage. He feels like he is at last coming clean in saying that the comedian would bring these young, hopeful, and beautiful models into his quarters, and once he selected the one he wanted, would be gone with her for a while. Afterwards, the girls would needed to be kept quiet. Scotti now suspects that the comedian was having sex with the women.
“The owner just walked right out,” Scotti added in his statement. “She knew exactly what was going to go on. Then [Cosby would] tell me, ‘Stand outside the door and don’t let anyone in.’ Now you put that together.”
