A boy that went missing was rescued after four years this week in a stunning discovery. The 13-year-old boy was reported by his mom as having vanished; the two were thankfully reunited this week after he made contact with her via phone call. AJC News reveals Saturday, November 29, 2014, that the young teen had been hidden behind a fake wall of a closet in a home located within Clayton County.
Some people are already calling it a miracle, as a “boy missing rescued after four years” story has been made public this morning. The 13-year-old was fortunately reunited with his mother over the Thanksgiving weekend. After a trip down to see his other parent, the son says his dad never returned him. The 13-year-old boy reported missing four years ago was rescued after being found safe overnight, hidden behind a false wall in a closet of a Clayton County home. A total of five suspects involved in the case have since been arrested by police authorities and are undergoing questioning. They are now in custody and are being charged on separate counts of cruelty to children, obstruction of justice, and false imprisonment.
The discovery of this missing boy was truly an incredible one. Police officer Kevin Hughes of Clayton County said that a team of law enforcement officials first investigated the home late on Friday night. A welfare check had been made on the young boy, but he was not to be found. However, a second phone call was made — this time from the 13-year-old teen himself — who reached out to his mother and said he was trapped in a closet. The mom was then able to relay the details to police officers on the scene.
“Upon initial arrival, responding officers made contact with several occupants at the location who denied having knowledge of any information concerning the victim,” shared the police spokesperson. “After a brief search of the premises, the officers left without locating the victim … While at the location during the second call, the victim was able to establish phone contact with his mother and she in turn passed on additional information to the officers on the scene,” Hughes added. “The victim was found behind a false wall within the residence.”
No less than five individuals were placed under arrest, shares WSB TV News in an update on the “boy missing rescued after four years” headline. The 13-year-old was apparently being held by his father, Gregory Jean, 37, as well as a 42-year-old woman by the name of Samantha Davis. They were again charged with cruelty to a child, false imprisonment of a minor, and obstruction. Three other people were also placed under arrest at the location. Their names have not been released due to them being minors, notes the report.
The boy, whose name is also being kept hidden at the moment for privacy reasons, has not seen his mother in four years. He was reunited with his emotional mom this Saturday morning. It appears that after the child went to visit his father down in Florida in 2010, his dad would not let him go back home. Only after he was able to make contact with his mom by a fortunate phone call was he rescued at last. After confirming that her son was no safe thanks to an update from police officers, the boy’s mother made it to law enforcement headquarters and was said to simply “hug” her son, unable to speak.
Apparently, says a neighbor of the arrested father, the 13-year-old had been out of the house a number of times. He was usually alone and would be performing yard work. There are still many questions that need to be resolved in this strange case, but at least it has a happy ending between a mother and son. Police are continuing to conduct an investigation, and until the situation is resolved, the formerly missing boy for four years will be staying in the protection until of the Division of Children and Family Services.
