Every year millions of puppies are born into the world and sadly many of them will end up in homes where they are abused, neglected, chained outside and never receiving any human contact or bonding. Or they may suffer a fate of being passed from owner to owner, shelter to shelter until they get to the end of the line which turns out to be a kill shelter, killed because no one wants them.
So why do some dogs find their way into homes where they will be loved, cared for and sheltered for the duration of their lives and others end up dying before their time because they end up with people who did not care enough for their well-being?
We have all heard the expression; “A picture speaks a thousand words.” This picture of a dog named Brady has captured the hearts of animal advocates nationwide and has raised $350.00 in sponsorship for whatever rescue or person is lucky enough to adopt him.
Brady like many other unfortunate dogs was picked up as a stray on December 6th 2014 and taken to Floyd County Animal Control in Rome, Georgia. Brady is a male Pit Bull mix approximately 60lbs. Contrary to the stigma that seems to follow his breed everywhere, Brady is just as gentle and loving as any other dog. All he wants to get is get close to his humans, (the shelter volunteers) and places his sweet little head in people’s laps.
Brady cannot understand why he is there and why no one has come for him. Like all puppies he was born just wanting to be part of a family, not discarded like garbage and left to die at the end of a needle while lying on a cold table in a shelter.
Brady is a shelter favorite and the shelter volunteer could not hold back his tears as he hugged Brady. He knows this sweet dog may soon be put down. Brady felt the volunteer’s grief and pain and found it in his heart to give him comfort and kisses, encouraging the volunteer to be strong while Brady is the one in danger of losing his life.
Brady knows all too well what his fate will be if no one saves him and he so desperately wants to live. Brady has seen and heard other dogs take that walk down the hall to that formidable back room never to be seen again. Another little life and spirit snuffed out because no one cared
. He could be killed as soon as Wednesday December 17th, 2014 if no one steps up for him.
It is the Christmas season and like all of us Brady just wants comfort and joy, and the opportunity to have a second chance at life.
As Christmas Day approaches, little Brady falls asleep each night in his cell with his head resting on his paws and the words of that heart tugging, well known Christmas song in his mind lulling him to sleep.
“I’ll be home for Christmas…..if only in my dreams.”
Please help Brady get his Christmas wish.
