Despite the “storm” raised over the over-sized genitalia of a copper bull above a Barista’s restaurant in Hurricane, UT, business owner Stephan Ward claims that his decision to remove its penis had nothing to do with neighborhood complaints or threats to take away his license. He “simply decides that the bull would “look better without it.”
In fact, he was quoted by the Spectrum newspaper in St. George as stating that he told the town council,” I am not removing the penis for you or because of your complaints. I don’t like you. I’m doing it for me. I just decided it would look better without the weenie. And oh my God! It’s beautiful.”
It should be noted, that although the sign had been approved by the planning department and “Ward went through the proper channels, the dimensions of certain parts of the animal didn’t seem to be built the same way as in the plan that came to us,”stated City Manager Clark Fawcett.
Even before the battle over the bull became heated, Ward has uncured the wrath of locals who have complained that he is “hostile toward customers and that his prices are too high.” Still, he claims that while he never intended to cause a ruckus, he has been enjoying the attention, and that the controversy has “brought in more customers.”
