A favorite among foodies and families since 1985, California Pizza Kitchen celebrated its grand opening in Downtown Summerlin in Southern Nevada on Nov. 19. More than opening a new restaurant, CPK unveiled its new look and enhanced menu making it the new flagship location as CPK Next Chapter. The ceremonial pizza cutting, instead of a ribbon cutting, with CEO G.J. Hart, Senior Vice President of Culinary Innovation Brian Sullivan, members from the Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce and five Make-A-Wish families as part of its community partnership.
“We are proud of our new Downtown Summerlin location and believe it is the perfect location to launch our CPK Next Chapter concept,” CEO G.J. Hart said. “We are pleased to partner with Make A Wish for our special grand opening. The kids had an amazing time wearing their chef hats and building pizzas with our team.”
While favorites remain on the menu such as Original BBQ Chicken pizza, created in 1985, new items have been added. California flatbreads including a new smoked ham and Swiss with goat cheese, caramelized onions and smashed garlic croutons. For breakfast, try a pizza topped with an egg prepared sunny side up. Kale salad is new on the menu fresh, tasty and full of nutrients. For entrees, hearth roasted halibut, caught wild from the Aleutian Islands, is roasted on cedar plan with butternut squash, faro, baby kale and grilled asparagus. New decadent desserts include salted caramel pudding with black cocoa cookie crumbs and S’Mores, a kettle cooked Belgian chocolate pudding with dark chocolate chunks, double graham cracker and toasted marshmallow.
The décor has been transformed with a retro-style lounge with full bar and specialty drinks, open kitchen, reclaimed woods, exposed ceilings with patio seating overlooking the courtyard.
Another new transformation is the wait staff. Not only are dress and name badges fun with a “be yourself” vibe, but now the staff will cater the dining experience to fit the party, whether it is a date, family outing, colleagues lunching or friends hanging out. CPK encourages its staff to let their individuality to shine and connect with customers.
As Hart explained, “I came into the company a little over three years ago. CPK is a phenomenal brand worldwide.” The company’s history demonstrated a willingness to be the first to market a new idea and imagine future trends. “We respond to every Yelp and Trip Advisor review and have launched a loyalty program to connect with customers which speaks to connection we are trying to make.”
The grand opening festivities also included pizza dough tossing with Make-A-Wish families and a first lunch featuring many new menu items from CPK’s extended menu of soups, entrees, signature salads and pizzas.
