The Canton Charge managed to outlast the Westchester Knicks and spoil their first ever home opener this past Wednesday. The first hald consisted of seven lead changes and six ties with the Charge pulling ahead 42-39 at the intermission due in large part to the forcing of eleven Westchester turnovers that resulted in 20 points. In his Charge debut, Alex Kirk was the lead scorer with 12 points on 5 of 9 for the half.
More of the same was the story throughout the third quarter as the teams managed to tie four times and change leads eight times. Down by one at 60-59, Canton went on a 10-2 tear hitting five shots from inside the toughly defended inner five feet.
The fourth quarter saw Westchester come alive as they scored 13 of 18 while pulling ahead 75-74 with 7:28 on the clock. Canton hung tight on defense forcing five turnovers during the next 5:21and taking the lead for good on a Justin Johnson layup. This was followed by hitting the next five to keep the Knicks at bay.

Michael Dunigan added 12 points and six boards in 33 minutes. Canton as a team ultimately forced 21 Westchester turnovers for 31 points in the game while the Charge reserves outscored the Knicks, 42-20.
