On last night’s episode of “Catch a Contractor,” comedian Adam Carolla and his friends, licensed home-improvement contractor Skip Bedell and his beautiful private investigator wife, Alison are going after the worst contractors in America on this episode titled “Benedict Contractor.” Before Adam became famous for his comedy and other endeavors, he was a contractor, now the team is on the job to hunt down the crooks that screw over innocent people, and force them to complete the jobs they left unfinished. If they cannot find these people, they will finish the job and help the family take legal action against these scumbags.
Adam and Skip went to meet Kalani and Michele Nyssen, the owners of a condo that is torn up and looks like a disaster area. Valentino was the person who won the bid on the job to redo their bedroom, entryway and stairway, the price was $37,500 of which the homeowners gave him $37,000. This guy was a friend who does not know what friendship is all about. It has been nine months since they heard from him, and he also left them with a mural of a mermaid in their unfinished bathroom that was supposed to be a gift from him! How about finishing the job?
Although he is now out of business; Alison will track him down. He went into a tile store and they waited over four hours for him and finally Vivian went inside. She found his business card that stated he was the store’s project manager. She called and set up an appointment for him to come to the sting house and sure enough, he showed up.
Once he arrived, she went to get her husband, and that is when Skip and Adam came in along with the production crew. When they confronted him, he had a litany of excuses and accused the couple of verbal violence against him. He was given the three usual options; to return the money, come back and finish the job under their supervision or be taken to court. He still had a bunch of lies in his pocket, not realizing the couple was listening to him. Finally, lie after lie just got to Kalani, and he and Michele came out to confront him. After calling each other liars, the couple left the house so the completion could occur. Skip and Adam found that because Val did not have a license for the last ten years, he never was subject to scrutiny of inspectors. He continued on his merry way, doing a crappy job and expecting it to be his best.
Now the couple are on their way home to see their finished home. They were thrilled at the amazing job, the mermaid was gone and the floors were lovely. Unfortunately, they had to see Val one more time. He refused to admit to any deception on his part. Kalani then told him to get the f**k out of his house. Adam and Skip were happy to know that Val has hung up his trowel and is no longer taking on any more jobs.
Thanks to Adam, Skip and Alison there is one more happy family because of their hard work and dedication to doing the job right on “Catch a Contractor.”
