On last night’s episode of “Catch a Contractor,” comedian Adam Carolla and his friends, licensed home-improvement contractor Skip Bedell and his beautiful private investigator wife, Alison are going after the worst contractors in America on this episode titled “Twice Burned.” Before Adam became famous for his comedy and other endeavors, he was a contractor, now the team is on the job to hunt down the dirt bags who screw over innocent people, and force them to complete the jobs they left unfinished. If they cannot find these people, they will finish the job and help the family take legal action against these crooks.
Adam and Skip went to meet with Richard and Michelle Quintana, who had an electrical fire in their home from a fish tank. They hired a contractor to make repairs, but instead Gustavo burned them again. The fire took their family room and bathroom and now after working with Gustavo, the way he left was worse than the fire. The bid was for $33,000 to do the family room, bathroom and back wall. They gave him $32,700 and when Skip and Adam saw the job, they were appalled. The job, or what was completed of it, was incorrectly done, and thankfully if it was done, the family would have more problems. Another sad note; they never had a Port-a-Potty on the job and left a bucket with poop and pee in the family’s basement.
Alison found him leaving his home, and it is apparent he lives with his mother. When she called him they set up an appointment to meet at the sting house, all was ready for his arrival, except Adam who was stuck in traffic. As the contractor arrived, so did Adam, who climbed over a ladder to get into the house just in the nick of time. They confronted him and he had nothing to say that was true. He continued to say he was going to do the job right but he and the family could not agree. They gave him the three options; give back the money, come back and do the job properly, or they will help the family take him to court. He agreed to come back and do the job. As Skip and Adam continued to question him, nothing added up. He only had his contractor’s license less than a year, but it seemed that the only profession he was good at, was lying. As the couple listened to his lies, they were incensed and finally Richard came out and confronted him with his lies.
When they sent the couple away, the demolition started to remove the horrible work Gus left behind. He did not even know the proper name for the tools. They could not believe that he passed the test to get his license. Instead of being grateful that he was getting a good lesson from the best of the best; he continued to seek excuses. When the couple saw the house after almost a year of turmoil; they were ecstatic. Gus continued to make more excuses until the family told him to get the eff out of their house. By the smirk on his face and refusal to admit any wrongdoing; fans of the show will probably see Gus again on another “crappy” job.
Thanks to Adam, Skip and Alison there is one more happy family because of their hard work on “Catch a Contractor.”
