Even “Bachelor” stars have bad dates. Chris Soules is wrapping up his fantasy dates on ABC’s “The Bachelor,” but the 33-year-old Iowa farmer has certainly paid his dues. In an exclusive video posted by People on March 2, “The Bachelor” star described his worst date ever, before teasing that his best date can’t be divulged yet.
Of his worst date ever, Soules described a date that definitely wasn’t taped for ABC’s cameras. “We went out for dinner to a nice restaurant and my date proceeded to go through two or three bottles of wine,” he said. “I’m like “OK, she like to drink a lot, there’s worse things in the world than that. But as she became intoxicated she ended up kind of disappearing and it turns out she was outside on the sidewalk laying down, giggling and laughing and completely out of it.” Not surprisingly, Soules decided to pass on that dream girl.
And while he says he can’t reveal his best date yet (which means it’s clearly a one-on-one outing with his “Bachelor” final pick), Soules did describe what a great date would look like to him. “A porch next to a fire, having a glass of wine with a nice steak, possibly in Iowa,” he said. “With my best friend, a woman I could see spending the rest of my life with,” he explained. And he added that the nightcap would be “waking up next to that person and realizing that’s my wife.”
While Soules didn’t describe any of his “Bachelor” dates as one of his worst dates ever, one of his rejected bachelorettes sure did. Earlier this season, Soules and contestant Carly Waddell went on a date to see a “Love Guru.” The cringe-worthy date included a series of sexual “exercises” to test their connection, complete with massages, blindfolds, heavy breathing, melted chocolate and even some clothing removal. Waddell later slammed the awkward date, telling ABC’s cameras, “This is the worst date of my life. Every second I just want to not be doing this.” Hey, at least she remained sober and got a rose at the end of the night.
On his blog for Yahoo TV, longtime show host Chris Harrison pegged Chris and Carly’s sex guru date as “one of the most awkward first dates in the history of awkward first dates.” And that says a lot for a show that has featured hundreds of first dates.
Fans can see Chris Soules on his best date ever with one of his final two women, Whitney Bischoff or Becca Tilley, as “The Bachelor” airs its final episodes next week. The three-hour “Bachelor” finale airs Monday, March 9 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
