It seems that people all across the globe have been talking about the new sex crazed movie based on the book by the same name.
It has been all the buzz on talk shows, and it is reported that in Europe, the revenue received on day one was over twenty-eight million dollars.
That is a lot of money wouldn’t you say for a porn flick? This movie may even be in violation of the Obscenity Law.
However, with declining morals all across the world, this movie feeds the lust and immorality that has become “norm” for a lot of people. While sex “sells,” illicit sex destroys.
What does the Bible have to say about the illicit love affair between a billionaire and a young college student? A lot. God’s commandments are not that of a tyrant wanting to be a spoiler; but that of a loving Father, who wants to protect His children from the “fallout” of misusing sex.
God is no fool… and God cannot be fooled. God knows the heart of man and the evil that resides there… for that reason, Christ came to open the eyes of the physically blind as well as the spiritually blind.
There are at least one-hundred Bible verses that refer to lust, adultery, and sins of the flesh. Sex between a man and his wife was designed and sanctioned by God, and is designed for becoming as one… in mind, body, and spirit… that is called love. When people disregard the person and engage in the sexual act just for a few moments of pleasure… that is called lust. Love between a man and woman brings far more than a few moments in the “sack.” It brings companionship, caring deeply about each other as mates for life and not as a “one night stand.” An explanation of love is aptly described in I Corinthians 13.
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”
Love is a lasting relationship between a man and woman intended by God for life, and for producing children of love and not lust. It was once said that children born of lust will never know the true meaning of love as a child. There is no more joy found on the face of the earth than when a man and woman truly love each other and when sex is only an expression of that love and not the basis of the relationship. Sex based on marital love is God’s plan – while sex on demand often times can be deadly. Sex laced with the wrong kind of emotions creates an atmosphere of jealousy, hatred, revenge, sorrow, unwanted babies, rape, abortion, and yes even murder.
Many in the Christian community have been shocked at the acceptance of this book and movie by others who claim to be Christians. It would seem that one would need to check the spiritual anointing oil of their souls if they feel that this movie has any merit when compared to scriptures. They must be chapter or two low on their knowledge of the Bible.
The sins of the flesh can be other things besides unmarried and ruthless sex and can be applied to other areas of life as well. This link will take you to one hundred scriptures regarding the sins of the flesh. Listed below are a dozen of these scriptures you can follow the link for the other eighty-eight.
SINS OF THE FLESH:
1 John 2:15-17
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.
Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— …
Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality,
For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot.
1 John 2:4-6
Whoever says “I know him” (Jesus) but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, but whoever keeps His word, in Him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in Him: whoever says He abides in Him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.
For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy.
2 Peter 1:5-8
For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with steadfastness, and steadfastness with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love. For if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they keep you from being ineffective or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,
You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore, whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
1 John 2:16
For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world.
Only God knows what the fallout of this movie will bring to the lives of people who read the book and watch the movie. It should carry a warning sticker like on a pack of cigarettes. Warning this book (movie) may be hazardous to your health, well-being, and could very well endanger your life. It could also cause unwanted pregnancies, abortions, rape, child molestation, divorce, and other side effects.
God speaks clearly in His word, “God will not be mocked!”
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatever a man sows, that shall he also reap. Galatians 6:7
