When you think Las Vegas, you think flashing lights, expensive hotels, great buffets and of course gambling. Well, at least that is what I thought of Las Vegas. I know when you think of Las Vegas you also don’t think about being on a tight budget. Unfortunately, my husband Matthew and I were on a tight budget while on vacation so we pick hotel that had a price that seemed too good to be true. We picked Circus Circus hotel for around $22.00 a night.
I know what you’re thinking. That is a crazy good price, what is the catch? The catch is that this hotel is very run down and old. After a very long plane ride we were ready to check in quickly and then get a bite to eat. We waited an exceptionally long time in a long line to check in. After we check in we head to our rooms. Which took about 10-15 minutes to walk to since they placed us kiddy corner to the hotel in the most run down building I have ever seen. We were in the farthest corner of the lot. Which in the beginning of our trip didn’t seem to bother us so bad. But, come night time when we had spent hours looking around on the strip we dreaded the lengthy walk back to our hotel room.
So after we settle in and discussed the odd smell of our hotel building we set off to try their buffet. Starving at this point you would think that anything would taste good. Unfortunately, most of the food was either stale or cold. We brought this issue up to the staff. The answer was “sorry ” that we didn’t like the buffet. Needless to say we went on our merry way leaving the luck laster food on our plates.
You know that feeling you get when you’re in Walmart? The people are just a little bit off, the floors are dirty and nothing seems organized. You go there because you know the price can’t be beat but while in there you think to yourself, “why did I come in here, I feel dirty”. This is the feeling that I got while staying in Circus Circus. It’s cheap and I am getting a good deal but I’m not really feeling good about it.
Now, don’t get me wrong. This hotel isn’t all bad. I do like the fact that it is family friendly to a point. They do have rides and activities for kids but to get to them the kids have to walk thru a smoke filled casino. This hotel would have definitely been a fine place to stay if I had just turned 21 and did not care about comfort or my safety. I mention safety because you get the feeling while walking around this hotel there is a slight chance you might get mugged.
Overall for the price the hotel is just fine. It might smell a little funny but if you’re looking to stay in budget it’s a perfect place if your young. However, factor in that you might want to budget for cab fare as well since you are so far from the strip.
