Now that the Republican Party will be in control of the Senate as well as the House of Representatives in Washington, D.C., Americans are asserting that Congress now takes a look at the nation’s to-do list. The list could just as easily be called the nation’s “overdue” list as much time has passed without the issues being properly addressed. A variety of media sources are making the assertion about the new Congress’ to-do list, including a Fox News piece on Saturday.
The pending 114th Congress needs to dig into some serioius issues without delay because they are concerns that the Democratic Senate led by Sen. Harry Reid refused to investigate during the most recent Senate. Naturally, it has bee strongly suggested that Reid refused to initiate some investigations. The reasoning is quite clear. The Nevada senator would not have wanted to put the president and the Democrats – as well as any of their players – on the hot seat by further investigating some scandals.
There are many areas of concern – many of which were already brought up at the Congressional leaders’ luncheon with the president on Friday, according to the Washington Post. Those issues included – but were not limited to – immigration and health care including Obamacare. Yet, many sources are citing four items that need to be addressed sooner rather than later as well by the new Congress. In no particular order, one of the four items is President Barack Obama’s issuances of executive orders of which the nation’s high court has already expressed concern.
Presently, the president continues to threaten to use executive orders when he doesn’t get his way – or when Congress doesn’t act quickly enough to suit him. Just this past week, he has said he will go rogue and do immigration reform on his own without Congress, says a USA Today report. He suggested a deadline with his threat, and that deadline is the end of the year.
Another issue that has been insufficiently investigated by the Senate under Harry Reid and the Democrats, according to many persons, is Operation Fast and Furious. As recently as two weeks ago, it was suggested that there was a cover-up in the dated-gun-running scandal that may have involved the White House. It needs to be addressed now, according to pundits and disgruntled members of the White House’s opposition political Party. Of major concern is the accusation by Judicial Watch that Obama’s Senior Aide Valerie Jarrett may have been involved with a cover-up of the incident in which the nation’s exiting Attorney General, Eric Holder, has been entrenched as well.
The IRS scandal that still leaves many stones unturned. While persons in the Obama administration have been investigating to a small degree, there is obvious a need to conduct more of an investigation into this concern. The assertions of lost emails by persons involved, such as Lois Lerner, is still unsettled. Just two days ago, Breitbart did a piece titled “IRS: Um, Yeah, We Never Actually Looked for Lois Lerner’s Emails or Anything.”
Needless to say, the IRS scandal remains and has not settled well with Americans who want to know the truth. After all, targeting conservative groups prior to the 2010 election when the Democrats fared well, wasn’t right. Naturally, the whole truth needs come out, and those who were involved need to be held accountable – and punished as need be.
Last but not least, the inconclusive investigation of the Benghazi scandal needs to be fully investigated in spite of those who want the incident to disappear from memory – and investigation. How is it that four Americans ended up dead from an attack that, it is assumed by many persons, could have been prevented? There is still major unrest throughout Congress and the country regarding who knew what and when – and why the attack wasn’t prevented.
Naturally, that unturned stones involve former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Additionally, it has been reported that Benghazi could still turn into a scandal for President Obama with the tremendous magnitude that the Watergate scandal had on President Richard M. Nixon, according to WND. As pundits have said, Watergate was the end of Nixon’s presidency – and nobody even got killed in that scandal. Therefore, the logical question remains: Why has so little been resolved regarding the Benghazi scandal in which the White House has been accused of not being honest about it to protect Obama’s image just before his re-election two years ago?
Additionally, whether Clinton decides to run for president in 2016 or not, Benghazi needs to be addressed. It has been said that Benghazi absolutely needs to be investigated, however, if she wants to become president, as speculated. Having an ongoing scandal involving a president is a major distraction to a president’s ability to run the nation.
Americans have witnessed presidents in scandals several times, including Richard Nixon’s Watergate scandal and Bill Clinton’s impeachment over the Monica Lewinsky sex scandal. Therefore, especially if Mrs. Clinton plans on running for president, now is the time for this major leftover scandal to be investigated. The new Republican Senate is now able to join forces with the Republican House of Representatives to finally have these issues totally investigated without delay.
