According to a Jan. 17 report from Sherdog, Conor McGregor made a splash at the UFC Fight Night 59 weigh-ins by sporting a form-fitting pair of red Reebok undies, leaving little to the imagination for the thousands in attendance at Boston’s Orpheum Theater. McGregor, 26, walked onto the stage with his signature confident swagger, raising his fist to Dennis Siver’s face in an attempt to get into his head before the fight got underway.
He tipped the scales at 146 pounds, while Siver weighed in at 145 on the dot. The hotly-anticipated UFC Fight Night 59 featherweight fight was made official after both men clocked in on the money for their contracted weight requirements one day before the Fox Sports 1-televised spectacular from Boston. Both men looked clean and healthy, so it seemed to be an easy weight cut on all sides.
With both fighters making weight without issue, most of the headlines surrounded McGregor’s sexy weigh-in gear. Make no mistake: McGregor is the complete package of good looks, personality and skills inside the cage. He understands the business side of the game better than anyone, but he backs up his marketability with ridiculous talent in the world-famous UFC Octagon.
McGregor’s choice of attire for UFC Fight Night 59 was no coincidence. He knows what gets headlines and what doesn’t, so it made sense for him to sizzle in a cute pair of red Reebok undies. McGregor’s UFC Fight Night 59 opponent wore much more traditional garb, a green pair of standard fight shorts.
Elsewhere at the UFC Fight Night 59 weigh-in, Donald Cerrone and Benson Henderson shared a good laugh with each other even though they are expected to try to knock each other out in the event’s co-main. Cerrone and Henderson are great friends in real life, but they know business is business. They’ll put friendship aside for 15 minutes while they try to punch each other in the face.
Cerrone weighed in at 155 pounds, while Henderson also clocked in at 155 pounds. Their lightweight scrap has serious title implications, as the winner climbs up the ladder towards a future championship bout against Anthony Pettis. Cerrone and Henderson have already locked horns twice, with the latter winning both times.
Henderson will try to make it a clean sweep, while Cerrone looked to notch his first victory over his friend. In other action, Uriah Hall and Ron Stallings both weighed in at 185 pounds for their middleweight scrap on the UFC Fight Night 59 main card.
