NextGen systems are out and they’ve battle for dominance for the past 2 years. Playstation 4 swung first with XBOX One taking each hit in stride with counter punches in return. Each month readers have been bombarded with headlines suggesting XBOX One outsells Playstation 4 and vice versa, but what remains stagnant is the glaring lack of amazing games to go with each respective system. Sure, there have been a few solid game releases such as Dragon Age Inquisition, NBA2K15, Call of Duty Advanced Warfare, Alien Isolation, in which all were expected to be solid games, right? But gamers have had huge letdowns when it came to highly anticipated releases like Destiny, Titan Fall, and Assassins Creed Unity. Gamers are salivating for something new, and that’s why this year’s Electronic Expo must in the words of the iconic Rod Tidwell to Frank “Cush” Cushman, “Show Me the Money!”
What can gamers look forward to at E3 2015? According to Tomsguide.com, the tentatively titled Mass Effect 4 will be on display at E3 2015, and perhaps fans will get a live action trailer with the title scheduled for a full release sometime in 2016. BioWare’s most popular game is sure to gain back some confidence from diehard fans of the first 3 installments, making it one of the most highly anticipated games of 2016 followed by Fallout 4. Which leads to the biggest news of all, according to their official website, Bethesda will be hosting their first-ever E3 showcase this year. Will they show Fallout 4? Elder of Scrolls working title perhaps? Either title would make sweet baby Jesus happy, and millions of gamers too. Then there’s the ever exciting Star Wars franchise and the slated title, Star Wars Battlefront by EA. It’s been awhile since gamers have had a worthy Star Wars game title. IGN revealed some of the stunning concept art and details on DICE’s Frostbite Engine behind the game. At this year’s E3, Sony should provide some live action game-play and perhaps a worthy demo for gamers with the title release slated to be Q2 2015. But let’s hope that the game has nothing to do with the upcoming Star Wars movie release. It could signal the kiss of death as most movie games fail at glory for gamers. Then there’s PS4 exclusive title Uncharted 4 which is also expected to be shown this year at E3 2015. According to Kpopstarz.com, Naughty Dog promises to announce “Uncharted 4” PS4 release date updates, which has speculation that the game will be released after E3 or that Naughty Dog might launch the game at E3.
Other major announcements that could happen this year at E3 2015, Ubisoft could finally give gamers a great Assassins Creed title with Victory. According to Inquisitr.com, they’ll make an official release date announcement along with details about the game. It’s been hit and miss lately with the franchise. Unity was a complete disaster yet Black Flag was a hit, so anything’s possible with this upcoming title. The biggest showcase could be Microsoft, in which Phil Spencer revealed on Twitter that “Planning is going well. And with E3 one week later than norm and Gamescom one week earlier feels like summer is one big show.” Showcase attendees will likely get to see updates involving Windows 10 for XBOX Live, and there’s hints on the “try-before-you-buy” program that was launched with Sunset Overdrive and whether or not it will be used for other game titles in the future. As for Nintendo, whose been left behind the curb for about 2 years now, they have confirmed the release of a new Zelda and Mario title for the Wii U platform. While this may excite nostalgia in loyal Nintendo fans, it still remains to be seen whether or not this will help Nintendo gain any portion of market share within the gaming industry, as Microsoft and Playstation continue to lead the way with their NextGen systems.
With E3 2015 roughly 3 ½ months away, expect more developments about upcoming titles, official game-play trailers, and building excitement from attendees. What showcase are you looking forward to the most?
