It’s been a quarter century since the ultra-cool, laid back trio known as De La Soul grabbed the attention of listeners worldwide with their defining debut album 3 Feet High and Rising.
In honor of their 25th anniversary they are touring with a stop on the Sunset Strip on Monday night December 1st.
You can celebrate with De La Soul at the House of Blues.
It’s hard to believe that their signature single “Me Myself and I” is 25 years old because the beats remain current and the song itself has been used on a TV show, commercials and video games throughout the years. Even to this day if you play the song around hip hop enthusiasts you’ll inevitably see people start dancing.
At its height in 1989 “Me Myself and I” was the top song on the Dance, Hip Hop/R&B and Rap Singles Charts. The song is part of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.
Others singles such as “Say No Go” and “Buddy” have stayed with fans of De La Soul throughout the years.
De La Soul have just released a track called “The People” featuring Public Enemy’s Chuck D. “The People” is available as a free download. You can download the track here.
So put on your best grooving shoes and head to the Sunset Strip on Monday night for a reunion with the group that masterfully blends hip-hop, rap, R&B.
