Melbourne, FL (December 2, 2014) – With Black Friday and Cyber-Monday behind us, the holiday shopping season is in full swing. I did find some good bargains online and in stores. As a tech junkie, I am always looking for the next price drop for digital devices to store my outdoor photographs and GoPro videos. I was able to find a “Monster Digital Overdrive Advanced solid state memory 128 GB external 3.0 / 2.0 USB device for $49.99. It normally goes for $79.99. I usually upgrade to a larger flash drive but found this SSD device at Sam’s Club and could not resist the price so I purchased two of them. Flash drives this size run from about $39.99 to over $100.00 depending on where one purchases them. I should be good for another year of photography.
During the holiday gift giving season, sometimes you want to splurge on a gift for someone special. I found a website called Shinola. Shinola is a purveyor of high end watches leather goods, pet accessories and bicycles all made in Detroit, Michigan. I love watches, especially what styles in the field watch category. I currently have a Timex expedition and a Victornox Infantry field watch. The Shinola field watches look great but the Shinola bicycles are a work of art. Be sure to check out all the Shinola made in America products his holiday season.
As the cold fronts ascend from Canada like they did last week, you might be thinking about giving an outdoor adventure trip to the Caribbean as a Christmas gift. To get you there in style by bypassing all those customs lines at the major airports, why not try hitch a ride on an airline that does not use major airports. Tropic Ocean flies to the Bahamas where you can clear customs at a nearby island, and enjoy a second flight with scenic views to resorts in the Abacos such as Hope Town, Treasure Cay, or Green Turtle. They are based in Fort Lauderdale which allows their float planes easy access too many islands with, and most importantly, without runways. You pick the destination and they will get you there! Here are a few of their destinations: Bimini Islands, Hope Town, West End, Andros, Treasure Cay, Green Turtle Cay, Eleuthera, Marsh Harbor, Abacos, Great Exuma Island, Berry Islands, Staniel Cay, and the Berry Islands.
In addition to flying south for a winter outdoor adventure, you can find many websites that offer outdoor adventure tours. If you visit the Sierra Club website, you can find many of their outings all across the United States. Besides the Sierra Club here are a few other websites to book trips – Adventure.com, Active Planet Travels and Outdoor Trips.info. I am sure there are a lot more you can find if you take the time to search the world-wide web.
I know that it is only December 2nd, but the ski season has already started. You can check out the snow conditions by visiting the “On the Snow” website.
December is a great time to plan your spring break trip. There are a lot of great outdoor destinations out there besides going to the beach.
So until next time, be safe in the sun and have a great time in the great outdoors.
