While appearing on Newsmax TV Friday, conservative author Dinesh D’Souza said Barack Obama is a “spoiled brat” who needs to be “spanked” by Republicans. D’Souza, who was sentenced to eight months in a “community confinement center” for violating campaign finance laws, made the comments from San Diego while speaking on Skype.
“The Obama Precedent is that any president from now on who runs into laws that he or she doesn’t like, they just declare those laws to be optional and they stop enforcing them,” he told Newsmax’s Steve Malzberg. “This is a radical modification of our system of government.”
“We now have a lawless chief executive who thinks that if he gets really frustrated and doesn’t like the fact that Congress isn’t doing what he wants, he gets to ignore them and basically not enforce the laws that he doesn’t feel like enforcing,” he said. This is not a new complaint. As we reported in 2011, Obama took on the role of the Supreme Court and unilaterally declared parts of the Defense of Marriage Act unconstitutional.
Calling Obama an “extremely spoiled brat,” he blamed the so-called “mainstream media,” saying it is “not holding him to account.” But now that Americans are “waking up,” he added, Obama is becoming irritable, daring someone to “spank him.” From his point of view, Obama’s executive action on amnesty is like a spoiled child “break[ing] all the toys” at a birthday party.”
“The question is,” D’Souza added, “will the Republicans now do what is needed and spank him?” Republicans have threatened to take action against Obama’s executive amnesty, but it is unclear what, if anything, they intend to do. Part of the problem is that Republicans will be falsely labeled racist no matter what action they take. On the other hand, their conservative base will simply not tolerate inaction or excuses.
He also told Malzberg that he and other immigrants who came to the country legally are frustrated by Obama’s actions. They followed the rules, filled out the forms and played the waiting game, but now, Obama has unilaterally changed those rules for some, not because of a disagreement on immigration, but because he has a fundamentally different idea on who should be allowed into the country.
“We want immigrants who will pull the bandwagon; he wants immigrants who will sit in the bandwagon,” he said. “We want immigrants who embody the spirit of 1776; he wants immigrants who embody the envious, covetous spirit of 1968. So we’re fighting over whether we want productive immigrants or unproductive people like Obama himself.”
