As we all know, Thanksgiving is two short days away. Instead of preparing a meal at home, why not explore the multitude of dinner options around the city? There are plenty of choices for New York’s visitors to indulge in an expertly prepared meal. Even those who are staying put in the city, perhaps entertaining guests, have a huge advantage. Many of New York’s restaurants offer prix-fixe menus on, before and after Thanksgiving Day. Below are a few suggestions for where to eat and why.
Il Mulino Prime
For $50 on Thanksgiving Day only, Chef Michele Mazza is transforming this modern steakhouse into an Italian-style Thanksgiving dinner haven. There will be Fresh Mozzarella and Grilled Vegetables to start. Roast Turkey with natural juices is the entree with Chestnut Stuffing with Sausage and Green Beans Marinara on the side. For dessert, Chef Mazza boasts his own Pumpkin Cheesecake alongside tea or coffee. Located on W Broadway in the heart of SoHo, Il Mulino Prime will also be open for lunch and dinner on Black Friday weekend.
This upscale Italian restaurant located near Central Park in Midtown Manhattan is the perfect stop for a deluxe Italian dinner. On Thanksgiving they will offer a four-course prix-fixe menu for $96 per person. It starts with a Cranberry Bean Soup with Roasted Squab Crostino and Mushroom Duxelle. Next is a Quail and Foie Gras Ravioli with Roasted Brussels Sprouts. The entree is, of course, turkey, but Italian-style: Chestnut Bread-stuffed Turkey with Baked Pumpkin and Traditional Gravy. For dessert there is Black Mission Figs and Almond Shortcake with Mulled Wine Gelato. Each of these exquisite dishes are also available a la carte. Reservations are required.
For those who really want to splurge this holiday season, ’21’ Club is offering a healthy dose of Thanksgiving feast this Thursday. Known for catering to brokers, financiers and New York’s most famous since 1930, ’21’ would be an interesting pit stop to dine in a formerly infamous speakeasy. For $115 per person ($55 per child), the prix-fixe menu includes Roasted Turkey with Sweet Potato Puree, Brussels Sprouts, Traditional Stuffing and Cranberry Compote. A jacket is required and sneakers are not permitted.
The Meatball Shop
Let’s bring it down a notch–several notches. For a more casual, affordable dining experience, The Meatball Shop is offering a delectable spin on their usual meatballs, especially for Thanksgiving. The menu includes one glass of Beaujolais, Gobble Gobble Turkey Balls over Mashed Potatoes with Gravy & Cranberry Sauce, and Brussels Sprouts on the side. Their infamous ice cream sandwiches will be transformed into a pseudo-pumpkin pie: Pumpkin Ice Cream between Pecan Shortbread Cookies. For only $25 per person, this menu will be offered between November 24-28 (excluding Thanksgiving Day).
Happy Thanksgiving New Yorkers.
Please note that most beverages and gratuity are not included in the prices above.
