The 2015 Cruise Critic Cruisers’ Choice Awards were announced on Feb. 23, with Disney Cruise Line (DCL) earning 12 first-place awards. All four ships in its DCL’s fleet were honored, recognized in such categories as Best Overall, Best for Families, Best Service and Best Entertainment.
DCL’s Disney Dream was again named Best Overall in the Large Ship class, with Cruise Critic noting this is the third year in a row a Disney ship has earned a first-place award for top spot in this category. Disney Dream also won the Large Ship Best Entertainment and Best for Public Rooms categories, as well as the all-ship class Best Cruise to the Bahamas award.
Of the nine other first-place awards, Disney Fantasy, the Dream’s sister ship, earned top honors in the Large Ship category for Best Cabins, Best Service, and Best for Embarkation. The Fantasy earned first place for the Best for Families award, a category that covers all ship classes and which reflects Disney Cruise Line’s niche.
Disney Wonder, one of DCL’s two classic ships, won several awards in the Mid-size category. The ship took first place in the Best Overall and Best Service. Disney Magic, the other classic ship competing the in the Mid-size class, won first place for Best Entertainment and Best for Embarkation.
“Being named to this list of winners is one of the highest forms of praise cruise lines can receive,” said Carolyn Spencer Brown, editor in chief of Cruise Critic in a prepared statement. “The awards represent the compilation of thousands of reviews Cruise Critic received over the past year, so it’s truly representative of the experiences of those who have sailed on the ships first-hand.”
In addition to the 12 first-place awards, Disney ships consistently placed highly in for the 2015 Cruise Critics Cruiser Choice Awards. The four DCL ships received a total of 27 top-three awards across all categories.
Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy competed closely with one another in the “best of” categories for the Large Ship class. The Dream was recognized as Best Entertainment, while the Fantasy took second place in that same category. While the Fantasy took top honors as Best for Families, the Dream took second.
Disney Dream also took second place for Best Cabins, third place for Best Service. The Dream took third for the Best from Florida destinations category, which covered all ship-classes. Disney Fantasy finished third in the Best Dining and Public Rooms categories. The Fantasy also placed third in the Best Caribbean Cruises, another destinations category.
In the Mid-Ship categories, Disney Wonder also took second place in the Best Rooms, Entertainment and Value categories. The ship also was recognized with a third-place award for Best Dining. Disney Magic earned a second place for Best for Public Rooms and a third-place award for Best Service and Value.
Cruise Critics’ Cruisers Choice Awards identify the best cruise ships of the previous year. Cruise Critic arranges categories in three ship classes based on passenger capacity (Large: 2,000+ passengers; Mid-Size: 1,200 to 1,999 passengers; Small: 1,199 or fewer passengers). Awards are calculated based on ratings submitted with each Cruise Critic member review.
Disney Cruise Line has consistently received awards and recognitions from the travel industry since first setting sail in 1998.
