On March 18, Disney Parks Blog announced that Disney’s Hollywood Studios will again hold “Frozen” Summer LIVE. As with last year’s event, this year’s “Frozen Summer will feature a royal procession with characters from the movie, a sing-along celebration retelling of Arendelle’s story, photo opportunities, and themed fireworks. “Frozen” Summer Live will run from June 17 through Sept. 7.
The entertainment and events highlighted by the Disney Parks Blog start with the Frozen Royal Welcome that will take place twice daily. This procession, which takes place throughout Hollywoodland, includes Anna, Elsa and Kristoff. Joining these Disney characters are the Royal Arendelle Flag Corps as well as skaters, skiers and ice cutters. Olaf, the summer-loving and hug-giving snowman, also appears.
The Frozen Royal Welcome has Anna leading the procession in a horse-drawn sleigh, and Elsa on an ice palace float. Kristoff is recognized as the “official Arendelle Ice Master and Deliverer.” The procession will pause twice along the route, inviting spectators to join in the now-expected group sing-along of “Let It Go!”
Another highlight for the “Frozen” Summer LIVE event is the return of “For the First Time in Forever: A ‘Frozen’ Sing-Along Celebration. In 2015, this stage show moves locations to the Hyperion theater – what used to be known as the Superstar Television Theater). Here,. “Frozen” benefits from a comedic retelling that also includes sing-along moments and appearances by Anna, Elsa and Kristoff. Guests familiar with last year’s sing-along can expect new in-theater effects.
Olaf takes center stage, hopefully without a hot spotlight, with Olaf’s Summer Cool Down. Several times each day, the Ambassador of Hollywoodland introduces Olaf and some of his friends to the Event Stage. Olaf’s presence is geared to sharing a little “In Summer” fun. But don’t worry about Olaf melting anything but guests’ hearts. As temperatures heat up, Olaf will share a burst from his personal snow cloud to cool things off.
“Frozen” Summer LIVE also hosts a dance party, named after the “Coolest Summer Ever” promotion. DJ Chill and Disney characters will take over the area dance around the Event Stage. To make it more interactive, the “Coolest Summer Ever” Dance Party will encourage guests to make song requests (expect a lot of “Frozen” music). The event will also utilize a social media hashtag, encouraging guests to share photos that may be featured onscreen during the party.
“Frozen” Fireworks will cap off the day at DHS. As part of this grand finale, Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Olaf come together at the Event Stage. The fireworks themselves are kicking are set to the music of “Frozen” with a special flurry of snow.
Special “Frozen” merchandise and specialty food and beverage offerings will be available throughout DHS. Other elements of the summer event include additional photo opportunities and “Frozen” décor.
Missing from this year’s “Frozen” Summer LIVE? Not mentioned in the announcement for “Frozen” Summer Fun is the ice skating opportunity that DHS offered to guests in 2014.
This year, “Frozen” Summer LIVE at Disney’s Hollywood Studios (DHS) is tied with Walt Disney World’s “Coolest Summer Ever” promotion. Like the DHS event, that promotion is themed to Disney’s blockbuster animated film.
