Italy’s active leader in guided and self-guided mountain travel, Dolomite Mountains Ltd. http://dolomitemountains.com/en/home.htm, stirs up pistes in the Dolomites with three Michelin-star-rated chefs for its new gourmet Ski Safaris. The program launching in early winter 2014 is Dolomites Ultimate Culinary Ski Experience: Skiing and Chefs.
This four-day on-snow get-away combines skiing with a certified Dolomites Mountains professional UIAGM/IFMGA ski guide and dining each evening on gourmet cuisine created specifically for Dolomite Mountains Ltd. guests. Chefs Norbert Niederkofler, Matteo Metullio and Alois Vanlangenaeker host cooking classes and wine tastings before each dinner. The finale is bedding down in a five-star accommodation.
“Ski Safaris are quite unlike any ski vacation you have had before. Ski the famous Dolomite Mountains and enjoy lift access to hundreds of miles of prepared terrain. You may never ski the same run twice! Now with the launch of this new itinerary you can combine a love of skiing with the region’s culinary stars,” said Agustina Lagos-Marmol, Dolomite Mountains founder.
A group (minimum four, maximum eight) departure is scheduled Dec. 12-15, 2014. The per person double rate is of € 2990 (single supplement € 680) includes trip briefing at gateway town of Alta Badia, logistics and map, three nights accommodation in a five-star hotel in Alta Badia, all breakfasts, lunch at VIP Rifugio/Club Moritzino, dinner on arrival night at Wine & Grill restaurant, two dinners with wine with chefs at 2-Star Michelin St. Hubertus and 1-Star Michelin La Siriola, a wine tasting at the private wine cellar of Hotel Ciasa Salares with Stefan Wieser, owner and somelier, a cooking class on arrival day with Chef Norbert Niederkofler, services of a local English-speaking professional UIAGM/IFMGA mountain ski guide for two days, Dolomiti Superskipass for two days, transportation in the area when needed, basic medical and evacuation insurance, local tourist tax and Italian VAT tax.
Ski Safaris in the Dolomites encompasses Dolomiti Superski (ski pass) that accesses mountain pistes (prepared alpine routes) linking 12 destinations and featuring 1,200 kilometers (746 miles) for four to eight days.
“Our gourmet itineraries perfectly blend the adventure of this magnificent mountain region with the refined cuisine of northern Italy combining active adventures with an additional focus on the food and wine of the region. From delicate pastas to game meats, traditional regional dishes to more experimental fare, Northern Italian to International cuisine and wines, you’ll have the opportunity to savor the wealth of flavors and delights this region has to offer. And not only that, you’ll see how it’s prepared, meet the masters behind the menus, and discover the best wine pairings for each course – a complete Dolomites culinary experience,” said Lagos-Marmol.
Italy’s Dolomites are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Dolomites are well known by skiers for their on- and off-piste terrain accessed through a sophisticated network of lifts topped off by eight out of 10 days of sunshine. See:
