There always seems to be controversy whenever any of the stars of “Duck Dynasty” speaks out about how they feel about the gay lifestyle. It is certainly well known on how matriarch of the family, Phil Robertson, feels about this subject. Now, his son and CEO of Duck Commander, Willie Robertson, has just recently sat down with Larry King to share his feelings on whether the gay lifestyle is really a choice and if he should be the one judging them. The short clip of the interview was posted by E! News on Wednesday.
The host of “Larry King Now” mentioned the fact that him and the whole family stood by his dad last year when he made the comments about homosexuality that got everyone up in arms. Willie admitted that he did not agree with everything that his dad said in that interview, but he did stand by him during all of the turmoil that surrounded their family. Despite all of that, the 42-year-old reality star wanted people to realize that the Robertson family has lots of love in their hearts for everyone, gays included.
“What I want people to know and what we’ve said over and over and over is that we love everybody,” he said in the interview.
He also indicated that there are a few gay people that work for the A&E network and he doesn’t seem to have a problem working with them. He sounds like maybe he is trying to get to know them a little better. Larry King then asked a tough question on whether he thought that they choose to be gay. The bearded duck hunter made the admission that he is unsure about that subject. However, he has been going through the scriptures to try to figure that out.
The Robertson family members are known for picking up the Bible to seek out the answers to life for themselves. That is how Willie Robertson and the rest of the family live their lives as seen in their weekly reality show and in their postings on Twitter. In fact, Willie’s daughter, Sadie, loves to post scripture verses to her fans as seen just today. Willie has also chosen not to judge anyone or to change them. He lets God do that.
“I’m not the judge. God’s gonna be the judge,” Willie added. “So it’s not my job to convince people to change their lives. It’s really through Jesus—if I introduce them to Jesus, he’ll do that. All I can do on the surface is love people, accept people, be kind and be respectful to people and I think as a family that’s what we do.”
It sounds like just because he disagrees with this type of lifestyle, Willie Robertson has chosen to get along and to be respectful as he always does. He has also chosen to not be as harshly spoken as his daddy. Even Phil Robertson has admitted that some of his previous choice of words was wrong. What are your thoughts on this interview with the “Duck Dynasty” star?
