Jessa Duggar’s first kiss is stirring up some controversy this week, with details emerging that Jessa’s first intimate moment with her new husband, Ben Seewald was manipulated by her father, Jim Bob Duggar. Jessa and Ben chose to exchange their first kiss in private after they tied the knot on November 1, with People reporting that it came as a “surprise” for everyone at the ceremony, including Jessa’s parents, Jim Bob and Michelle.

However, a blogger who supposedly attended the wedding claims that Jim Bob doesn’t want his shock about the Jessa not kissing at the altar to be televised. The blogger, known only as Ashleigh, writes on My Life As A Stay At Home Wife and Mother that Jessa’s father talked to TLC producers after the ceremony and asked them to change the storyline “to make it look like Jim Bob and Michelle were in on it the whole time.”
It is not known if the blogger actually attended the wedding or is fabricating the story, but many fans are wondering if they will actually see Jim Bob and Michelle gasp in shock that their daughter didn’t publicly seal her wedding vows with a kiss or if the footage will be edited to show them applauding her decision.
Jessa Duggar broke two courtship rules: Michelle and Jim Bob approved?
That is, of course, if the blogger’s story is actually true. Given that she doesn’t use social media or use her actual name on her blog, it’s likely that her post is bogus.
Starcasm states that Ashleigh’s blog post is untrue, stating that Jessa’s parents “likely knew Jessa planned to have her first kiss in private” and there will be no shocking reaction to edit.
“There were very strict embargoes on the information that wedding guests could share after Jill and Jessa’s weddings… If Ashleigh really did spill details on Jill’s wedding like she claimed, it’s unlikely she would have been invited to Jessa’s big day.”
Apparently, this isn’t the first time the blogger has provided misinformation on her blog. Free Jinger claims that Ashleigh’s posts about the Duggars is a “spoof” and a similar post was written after Jill Duggar married Derick Dillard in June. At that time, she wrote that Derick “carried her [Jill] out of the church in his arms.”
When the wedding aired on TLC last week, “19 Kids and Counting” fans saw Jill and Derick walk out of the church holding hand, making the blogger’s claims completely false unless producers did some heavy editing.
Rumors aside, what we know for sure is that Jessa and Ben Seewald chose to share their first kiss alone, away from guests and TLC’s cameras. While it’s not the norm at most weddings, it did manage make headlines. Isn’t that what reality TV is all about?
