Randy Meisner on of the founding members of the rock group the Eagles is reportedly being kept drunk by his wife in hopes he drinks himself death according to a report on Wednesday, April 29 from TMZ. A bizarre tale reveals that Meisner’s wife is tempting to kill the bass guitar player by providing massive amounts of vodka to him. This claim comes from a close friend of Randy;s who at this time is seeking a conservatorship, but Randy is growing suspicious and believes the friend is only after his money.
The friend’s name is James Newton. Newton recently filed legal documents stating that Eagles bassist Randy Meisner is in bad shape and his wife Lana is not helping him.
Newton claims Randy is an alcoholic who has been in and out of rehab a number of times and has been diagnosed with brain damage. Newton also states that Meisner’s wife’s neglective care of Randy often finds him going several weeks at a time unbathed. He also alleges that Randy’s wife keep the singer drunk claiming that she feels Randy is “easier to control when he’s drunk.”
To top of his complaints, Newton alleges that Randy’s wife is blowing through his money, spending between $$300k to $500k a year on herself for cosmetic surgery, vacations and remodeling their home. However, Randy and Lana Meisner have a different view about this claiming that Newton is making these allegations up. The couple claims that Randy is “doing great” and that he no longer drinks hard liquor, and also Lana treats him very well.
Randy also revealed that Newton is not a close friend of his and believes he is working closely with someone else who is trying to discredit Lana and get to Meisner’s money. Newton is standing his ground though and reveals he wants the conservatorship to help his dear friend, and take proper care of him.
