When it comes to weight loss and a healthy lifestyle, committing to a 5K, 10K, half marathon, or even a full marathon is not usually a major goal people consider; however, making one of these a goal helps provide an end point to shoot for that provides continued motivation up to the day of the event. What’s more, many of these events actually contribute to non-profit charities and provide funds for excellent organizations in need!
Picking a 5K to start out with three months down the road is a great start since most of these are walk/run events that also have short 1K runs for kids so the whole family can get involved! The atmosphere at these events are one that make it fun and the people are encouraging throughout the whole event whether your walk or run. A great addition to these events is medals for both age and sex groups, meaning the people with the best times for certain age groups for both males and females will receive recognition for their performance. What a great way to push someone to better themselves along with the great attitude of the people at the event!
The following are local events to help start off your healthy lifestyle and provide a goal to strive towards!
