In the spirit of the Kentucky Derby, we took a tour around the web looking for equestrian furnishings, décor and everything horse. Whether you ride horses, breed and train, or just bet your money on horses, here are some sites that offer a wealth of goods that are horse-related.
” …equestrian furnishings, décor and everything horse.”
According to the official Kentucky Derby Website:” The 141st running of the $2 million guaranteed Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (Grade I) will be run Saturday, May 2, 2015, and for the third consecutive year, a tiered point system in select races will determine who qualifies to America’s greatest race.”
And of course, there are old traditions associated with the Races, so if you are having a viewing party or entertaining around the event, make note of these items:
- A garland of red roses, the official flower of the park at this time
- The song, “My Old Kentucky Home” –usually performed by a band, at post parade time
- Mint Julep is the traditional drink of Churchill Downs Track; made with Grey Goose® Oaks Lily®
- The Twin Spires atop Churchill Downs’ roof line.
* We are old friends with Houzz and if you have never been to their website, you must set up a “scrapbook” where you can view homes and rooms scenes and collect and capture your favorites. Visit Houzz to see their series of room scene photos under “Equestrian”
* This was a nice surprise. See beautiful photographs of home settings with the equestrian theme; go here:

Horse Steeplechase Clock
Horse and Hound have a good selection of horse-related items and we especially liked a very beautiful Horse Steeplechase Clock at $198.00. This type of decor is typically found at antique stores.

The Hounds and Mounts pillow
Lovely pillow from Old Durham Road with a scenic horse to the hounds design called The Hounds and Mounts cushion for $65. Pillows are the easiest way to begin your quest for equestrian-themed items.
