Celebrate the season at the “coolest” place in SoCal while tubing, skating and holiday reveling at The Queen Mary’s CHILL.
With the holiday season officially here, it’s time to celebrate and join in on the winter wonderland festivities — and there’s no better way to experience the magic and get merry than at the Queen Mary’s CHILL. The Queen Mary has transformed itself into a North Pole wonderland complete with Santa and Mrs. Claus, Elves, Gingerbread, a spectacular Ice Kingdom, merry and music-filled ice-skating, a glacier glide, swinging’ sleigh ride and exuberant entertainment. This grand and must-go experience is perfect for the young and young at heart, including festivity-seeking families, couples looking for Christmas-cheer, and fun-loving groups of friends in search of glee and adventure. And new in 2014, all CHILL guests can enjoy unlimited access to The Ice Kingdom, ice tubing, ice skating (with skate rentals included) and a visit on the Queen Mary ship with the purchase of general admission tickets.
This season, The Ice Kingdom at CHILL celebrates a California Christmas, showcasing holidays in the Golden State with the magic of specially-themed sculptures and sceneries meticulously hand sculpted by a team of international artists, and made entirely out of 2 million pounds of ice. When you first step foot inside the magical Ice Kingdom you’ll be greeted with a stunning poinsettia entrance lined with toy soldiers standing over seven-feet tall. Next comes the candy cane forest with ten-foot candy canes that unveil a massive surfing Santa shredding through twenty-foot tall waves. Be sure to look to your left and feast your eyes upon the giant ice Christmas tree with tons of gifts and don’t forget to strike a pose next to Jolly Old St. Nicholas shimmying down the chimney. Venture onto the impressive ice replica of the Queen Mary ship and be sure to climb your way up to enjoy one of the four ice slides and get an adrenaline rush gliding down. Take a look at the extraordinary nativity scene, pose with the forest of penguins and visit the fairytale kingdom with the almighty ice queen inside the Ice Kingdom.
The Ice Kingdom is an igloo-like exhibit that’s kept at a chilling 9-degrees Fahrenheit to preserve the glistening ice sculptures, so be sure to bring jackets, hats and gloves to stay warm and cozy — and slip on one of the public parkas available at the event to stay a bit more cozy.
The CHILL Ice Rink presented by the Port of Long Beach is a world-class 6,500 square foot outdoor ice skating rink that’s located in front of the ship, giving skaters an awe inspiring view of the majestic Queen Mary, complete with twinkling lights installed just for the holidays, on her world famous stacks. What’s more, the Ice Rink features a DJ booth at the center where music is spun out nightly to keep you skating and swaying your way through the night as you listen to danceable tunes. This year ice skate rentals are included with each ticket but guests are also welcome to bring their own skates.
The Glacier Glide mountain at CHILL offers guests unlimited ice tubing down SIX-LANES of fun made entirely out of ice that stand more than two stories tall and 100-feet long. Be dazzled by the view from the top and get set for the adrenaline rush sliding down in an oversized tube as you feel the chill barreling down this brr—eath-taking adventure! The Glacier Glide is a fun, cool and exhilarating experience that you’ll want to slide down over and over endlessly!
