FaithGirlz: The Beauty of Believing is a Christian-based website for middle-school-aged girls. Tween girls, those youngsters who aren’t really children but not really ready for the world of teen responsibilities and choices either, have a website they can visit to learn more about what having a relationship with God looks like, read daily devotions that are relevant to their lives, find fun sleepover crafts, and more. There is even seven different series of books by well-known Christian authors that will appeal to a broad range of readers. Whether a tween is interested in sports, journalism, making the world a better place or something else, there is sure to be a book series that she will enjoy reading. Along the way girls will learn how other girls their age deal with homework, siblings, and questions about faith.
“From Sadie’s Sketchbook” is a series authored by Naomi Kinsman. Sadie is a twelve-year-old who moves from California to Michigan and who must discover where she fits in. While she has a great relationship with her dad, her relationship with her mother is not as strong. When Sadie learns to draw, it opens up a whole world of possibilities for her. There are currently four titles in this series; “Shades of Truth,” “Flickering Hope,” “Brilliant Hues,” and “Waves of Light.”
“Boarding School Mysteries” is written by Kristi Holl and has four books in the series. Jeri McKane is in sixth grade at the Landmark School for Girls, a boarding school hundreds of miles away from her family. She is a reporter for her school newspaper and seems to naturally find herself in situations that require her to search for clues and solve strange occurrences. Jeri helps solve the mysteries in “Vanished,” “Betrayed,” “Burned,” and “Poisoned.”
“Girls of Harbor View” by Melody Carlson is the series about Morgan, Amy, Carlie, and Emily; the four girls are as different as four friends can be. They all live in a trailer park in a small coastal community in Oregon and work together to make the world they live in a better place. The four titles in this series are “Girl Power,” “Take Charge,” “Raising Faith,” and “Secret Admirer.”
“Sophie” is a series written by Nancy Rue and features eleven-year-old Sophie LeCroix. Sophie’s greatest desire is to be a film director and her fervor to follow her dreams often lands her in unpredictable situations. There are twelve titles in this series which include “Meet Sophie,” “Sophie Steps Up,” “Sophie’s Friendship Fiasco,” and “Sophie Gets Real.”
“Lucy” is a four-book series also by Nancy Rue. Lucy Rooney is a tomboy who lives in New Mexico with her dad, who is blind. Lucy is determined to discover the why behind every situation and she doesn’t back down easily. The titles in this series are “Lucy Doesn’t Wear Pink,” “Lucy Out of Bounds,” “Lucy’s Perfect Summer,” and “Lucy Finds Her Way.”
“Samantha Sanderson” is a series by Robin Caroll and follows the life of seventh-grader Sam and her best friend Makayla. Sam is a cheerleader who longs to be an investigative reporter like her mother. Unfortunately, sometimes her zeal gets her into trouble with her police detective father. The two books in this series are “At the Movies” and “On the Scene.”
“Good News Shoes” is a series by Jill Osborne and features a young girl by the name of Riley Mae Hart. Riley is a twelve and she loves sports, which leads her to be the spokesperson for the Swiftriver Shoe Company. Her responsibilities lead her to all sorts of outdoor adventures. The books in this series are “Riley Mae and the Rock Shocker Trek” and “Riley Mae and the Ready Eddy Rapids.”
