Twentieth Century Fox has released the very first trailer for the “Fantastic Four” movie reboot has landed along with a first look unveiling of the poster according to Variety. Normally movie reboots aren’t so exciting, especially with one where the original 2005 version was rather boring, but as you can see, this trailer looks very promising for the summer. Normally, most big action hero films start their massive campaigns a year ahead, so it’s a little surprising that the studio is pushing the first look just six months before its August 7, 2015 release.
Director Josh Trank (Chronicle) has said in interview that he was very inspired by David Cronenberg’s films, and you can see all over the trailer for this Marvel superhero adaptation. While man fans were confused by the seeming lack of marketing, Trank has insisted that he and the studio wanted to make sure that that first reveal was a great one rather than just a good one.
“[W]e really want the audience to have the proper reaction to this material seeing it for the first time,” he said in an interview. “You’ve really got to put your best foot forward. You can’t just leak an image to strike up a conversation. You want people to see something that has thought behind it. And the teaser should do just that.”
Christopher Nolan kicked off doing movie reboots that were more grounded, gritty and realistic (well for a superhero movie, that is), and the “Fantastic Four” trailer definitely gives a much more somber real world look compared to the comic book look of the original one which starred, Chris Evans, Jessica Alba, Ioan Grufford and Michael Chiklis. Some fans are already saying that it reminded them of Nolans “Interstellar” sci-fi film. As “The Avengers” has shows, most superhero films get their heart from the bond between the characters, but the trailer doesn’t let us see that yet as they barely spoke to one another. There’ll be another trailer hitting soon so hopefully we’ll see how the bonding and sense of humor lies.
Miles Teller is team leader Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic; Kate Mara is Susan Storm/Invisible Woman; Michael B. Jordan is Johnny Storm/Human Torch; and Jamie Bell works his magic on Ben Grimm/The Thing.
Josh Trank wrote the script with Simon Kinberg and Jeremy Slater. This is the third “Fantastic Four’ film in the franchise.
The synopsis is just below, plus we’ve got a few images to check out along with the trailer.
