Florida has some fantastic zoos for families to enjoy. This time of year when the weather is a bit cooler is a great time to visit and see the animals out and about. Several of the Zoos in Florida are getting into the holidays with celebrations and events for families to enjoy. Even the animals are getting involved.
The Brevard Zoo is a smaller zoo with a lot of family features. This year in December you will find all sorts of festive fun. December 19th to 22nd strap on your jingle bells and get ready for some animal encounters, crafts and more . The zoo keepers will even be gifting their furry friends with Christmas gifts. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at the Zoo on the 19th , 20th and 21st. Be sure and check the zoo website for times. December 5th try out the family night like. Small animals make some big noises and everything looks a bit different at night time. Finally, count down to 2016 early with a juice toast at the Paws on Stage during our Noon Year’s Eve celebration, running from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on December 31.
Jacksonville Zoo is gearing up for some great holiday fun. December 13 is the 3rd annual Zoo Lights Zoobilee. Enjoy dinner, cocktails, crafts, music, pictures with Santa and more – plus priority admission into ZOO Lights. This event is a fundraiser for the zoo tickets for adults are $60 and children are $30. This year there will also be an auction. Grab your tickets online by December 4th. Zoo Lights begins December 11-13 and December 18-January 2nd. The Zoo reopens in the evenings from 6-9:30 weekdays and from 6-10PM weekends for families to explore the zoo as a winter wonderland . The cost is $10 for nonmembers and $8 for members. There are several extras you can also purchase for additional cost like the carousel, s’mores and more. You can save $1 if you purchase your tickets online.
Holiday Lights and Delights at the Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa is on select days this winter where families can enjoy extended zoo hours. Visitors can enjoy twinkling lights, Florida snow flurries, animals opening gifts , Santa and more during this fun time. Holiday Lights and Delights will begin December 4th and continue on select dates through January 3rd.
Central Florida Zoo hosts Breakfast or Brunch with Santa on Saturday December 12th. Enjoy breakfast of brunch at the zoo and share your holiday wishes with Santa. There will also be up close animal encounters and gifts for the animals during this celebration. Reservations for this event are required so plan ahead.
Zoo Miami will open at night for a special holiday with more than half a million bright lights shaped like zoo animals and dazzling tree lights. You can catch the Zoo Lights December 18-30th. Please note the Zoo is closed December 24th and 25th. Check out the Zoo Lights and Santa’s packages online . You can save up to 20% . In addition to the Zoo lights families can enjoy dinner with Santa on select dates. Enjoy a turkey dinner and be sure to bring your camera. Tickets for this event are $37 for adults and $32 for children above 2 reservations are required for this one. December 5th thru 27th animals are getting in the spirit as well. Zoo Miami has a schedule for which animals will receive gifts and holiday surprise during December.
