On Nov. 25, 2014, the music video for Fifth Harmony’s “Sledgehammer” premiered. The video features the members of the group performing in mostly white outfits. Meanwhile, Fifth Harmony is one of the Epic Records artists featured on the seven-track EP “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” which was released on Nov 24, 2014. Other artists on the EP are Meghan Trainor, A Great Big World, Tamar Braxton, Fiona Apple, Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson. Fifth Harmony is the only artist who has two songs on the EP: “All I Want for Christmas Is You” and “Noche de Paz.”
Fifth Harmony’s first full-length album, “Reflection,” is set for release on Jan. 27, 2015. (The album’s release date was postponed from Dec. 16, 2014.) “BO$$”, the first single from “Reflection,” peaked at No. 43 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States. The album’s second single, “Sledgehammer,” was released on Oct. 28, 2014, and has not yet made an impact on the Billboard 100 chart.
Fifth Harmony has been promoting “Sledgehammer” with performances on the pre-show of the 2014 MTV European Music Awards, ABC’s “Good Morning America” (on Nov. 12) and “Access Hollywood Live.” Fifth Harmony will also perform “Sledgehammer” on “The X Factor” U.K. on Dec. 7, 2014. The group will also make an appearance at the National Tree Lighting in President’s Park in Washington, D.C. on Dec. 4, 2014.
As previously reported, Fifth Harmony is set to perform at the 2014 Nickelodeon HALO Awards, which took place Nov. 15 at Pier 36 in New York City, and will be televised on Nov. 30. The Hollywood Reporter first broke the news on Nov. 3, 2014. The awards show will be telecast on Nickelodeon TeenNick and Nicktoons, and have streaming on Nick.com, Nick Radio and the Nick App. The 2014 Nickelodeon HALO Awards (hosted by Nick Cannon) will also feature performances by Jessie J, Meghan Trainor, the Vamps, Echosmith and Nick Jonas.
Fifth Harmony came in third place on “The X Factor” U.S. in 2012. The group was formed by putting together “X Factor” contestants who originally auditioned as solo singers but were rejected by the show as solo singers. The members of Fifth Harmony are Camila Cabello, Normani Hamilton, Dinah Jane Hansen, Lauren Jauregui and Ally Brooke. Simon Cowell was Fifth Harmony’s “X Factor” mentor on the show, and he signed the group to Syco Music, the company that he co-owns with Sony Music. Epic Records (another Sony Music company) handles marketing and promotion of Fifth Harmony’s Syco Music releases.
Fifth Harmony is the most commercially successful alum of “The X Factor” U.S., which was was on the air from 2011 to 2013. Fifth Harmony’s first single, “Miss Movin’ On” (released in 2013 from the group’s first EP, “Better Together”) has been certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America.
