Jeremiah Brent self-taught himself to design and build furniture; what began as a hobby has developed into a strong and thriving career.
As a result of his successful work with many celebrity and private clients, Brent launched his own interior and furniture design firm (Jeremiah Brent Design), specializing in residential, commercial and hospitality design with offices in Los Angeles and New York City.
In 2011, his collaboration with Rachel Zoe (exploring the fashion world and fashion design) and experience on the Rachel Zoe Project led and introduced him to TV viewers.
He is currently developing his first design show.
Here are five of Brent’s easy-to-do ideas:
Don’t Take Yourself too Seriously: Design at its best and purest form is an extension of who you are, and who you would like to become. Take the time to look at different websites, books, and magazines and see what you’re connecting to visually. My personal design aesthetic reads a bit modern but I connect to all different aesthetics. Take your time and get prepared.
Accessorize with Scent: This is where scent plays a crucial role. It’s the final touch and can be different for every home. It’s what you smell the second you walk into a home and you always remember it. Scent is the final frontier of a well curated home. It has the opportunity to take you back to an exact moment of time – a memory, a feeling, and that’s why I love Life Scents from Air Wick, they help to tell your home’s story.
Break the Rules: Too often we are told what not to do with design. I don’t subscribe to that school of thought. Some of the most beautiful spaces I have ever seen were not assembled following a prescription of what a good room looks like. Think outside of the box.
It’s a Marathon, Not a Sprint: When curating your home there is no reason to rush. Everyone wants to finish the room quickly, but it takes time to pick out the pieces you’ll keep forever that tell your own home’s story. You never know where life will take you, so be sure you are picking out pieces that can come along on any journey you take.
Invest in Key Pieces: I’m a huge fan of black and white. It never goes out of style. Have a few pieces like this in your home that can go on any journey you take. The same goes with scent. You should pick a scent that never goes out of style for your home and tells your home’s story. For me, it’s Sweet Lavender Days from Air Wick’s Life Scents collection. It creates a sense of comfort and relaxation in your home.
Air Wick’s Life Scents
Unlike ordinary home fragrances, each Life Scents fragrance contains three distinct fragrance accords that are sequentially detectable. Each scent can be experienced on its own, but also the three notes work together to provide one harmonious and cohesive fragrance. The patent pending technology makes it possible for Air Wick to provide a constantly changing fragrance to you and your guests.
For instance, with Mom’s Baking fragrance, you might first smell vanilla, then a touch of pie crust, and finally a layer of baked pear and continuous variations thereafter as the three fragrance accords compete in their levels of noticeability. The fragrance enhances the atmosphere in your home, and is only available from Air Wick.
The Everyday Collection is available in Scented Oils in four fragrances:
Say ‘Welcome Home’ with Mom’s Baking. Vanilla, Pie Crust, Baked Pear. Enjoy the aroma of caramelized pears with a hint of spice, baked inside a crumbly, buttery pie crust topped with cool vanilla cream. The fragrance creates a sense of coziness and inspires warm childhood memories at home.
Say ‘Get Away’ with Paradise Retreat. Coconut, Almond Blossom, Cherry. Bring home your own exotic isle with the aroma of almond blossoms and a concoction of creamy coconut and sweet cherries, without ever leaving your living room.
Say ‘Stay a While’ with Summer Delights. White Flowers, Melon, Vanilla. Use this scent to transform your home into a garden on a beautiful, breezy summer evening with its cool, fruity, floral combination of fresh cantaloupe slices, white flowers, and vanilla ice cream.
Say ‘Relax’ with Sweet Lavender Days. Red Currant, Lavender Petals, Spun Sugar. Let the intoxicating aroma of endless lavender fields, layered with dewy summer berries and warm sugar cane, create a sense of comfort, freshness and relaxation in your home.
The Spring Collection from Life Scents is available, also in Scented Oils and includes four scents:
Say ‘Cool Down’ with Lush Hideaway. Wild Berry, Coconut Water, Fresh Mint. Let the invigorating aroma wild berries, fresh garden mint and splashes of refreshing coconut water create a cooling effect within your home, transforming it into a lush rainforest.
Say ‘Let’s Reminisce’ with Mystical Garden. Rose, Raspberry, Marshmallow. Allow the blissful aroma of delicate pink roses and succulent plump raspberries, combined with sweet marshmallow to tell the stories of your childhood. Get lost in a maze of sweet memories, without leaving the comfort of your couch.
Say ‘Summer is Near’ with Turquoise Oasis. Driftwood, Sea Spray, Warm Breeze. Turn your home into a seaside retreat as a warm breeze carrying salty sea spray washes over you, bringing with it the invigorating aroma of weathered driftwood.
Say ‘Drift Away’ with Sunshine Cotton. Sunny Laundry, Sweet Sunshine, Coconut. Tell a story of warm sunny days at the beach, even during the dreariest April shower. This bright cheerful medley of fresh laundry, sweet sunshine and coconut will take you to the beach beneath gently swaying palm trees, warm sunshine and fluffy laundry-fresh towels.
