Just in time for wintry weather getaways, the former Islamorada Resort in the Florida Keys will complete its top-to-bottom renovation in December. It will then go by its new name, Amara Cay Resort.
“We are thrilled to introduce the vibrant new Amara Cay Resort to the Islamorada community and to travelers from around the world,” said Kara Lundgren, general manager of the Amara Cay Resort. “This property has been a Florida Keys staple since the 1970s and we are eager to preserve those memories while also elevating our guest experience to the highest levels. The new look and feel of the resort will echo the authentic feel of the island lifestyle our guests treasure.”
Amara Cay Resort’s soothing new color palette and design-driven spaces create understated elegance from the hotel lobby to the guestrooms. This contemporary yet classic seaside cottage features 110 guestrooms and suites with simple, clean designs and natural elements such as wood and rattan. Each guestroom has an extended balcony with sweeping views of the crystal clear Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding Florida Keys. The rustic textures and reclaimed wood of the completely remodeled lobby reflect the beauty and charm of Islamorada Key.
In keeping with Amara Cay’s commitment to sustainability, the new guestrooms will incorporate environmentally responsible elements such as LED lighting, improved thermostats, upgraded sinks and showers and impact-resistant glass.
Amara Cay will also offer Oltremare Ristorante, a Mediterranean-inspired Italian restaurant, which will feature fresh, locally caught seafood and regional ingredients.
“The future is bright for the Islamorada Resort Company,” said Patrick Goddard, president and COO of Trust Hospitality. “The re-brand and multi-million dollar renovation of Amara Cay Resort is just the beginning. It’s a new and exciting era for Islamorada, and we are thrilled to be a part of changing the landscape for locals and travelers alike.”
Amara Cay Resort’s oceanfront location at mile marker 80, on Islamorada Key, is halfway between Miami and Key West. It is the perfect setting for guests to unwind, connect with the sea and make lasting memories sport fishing, diving, snorkeling or relaxing among palm trees and swaying hammocks. Amara Cay is now accepting reservations for travel beginning on January 1, 2015.
