Black Friday is Frosty Friday in Frederick, MD. On going from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Nov. 28, downtown Frederick will be your all-in-one seasonal folly for Black Friday fun.
Come out to Downtown Frederick, and enjoy a winter wonderland of holiday cheer. Be sure to arrive early because the first 200 people to arrive at 30 N. Market Street between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. will receive a major door-buster giveaway—an exclusive bag filled with amazing discounts and deals to over 40 participating retailers.
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Horse-drawn carriage rides will be given throughout Downtown Frederick. Santa himself will be making an appearance, even setting up a picture time between noon and 3 p.m. In addition to Santa, come out and meet other popular holiday personalities between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. including Frosty the Snowman and the Grinch.
There will be an ongoing window decorating contest and scavenger hunt throughout the day along with continued live holiday entertainment and caroling. To pick up a map for this year’s scavenger hunt, Holiday Sparkle, visit the event Kiosk located at the intersection of Patrick and Market Streets. Some of the day’s performers will include: the Dapper DJs, the Frederick Children’s Chorus, Stuart Frazier on Bagpipes, Bill Izer, Wizer Productions, Santa’s Circus Street Performers, Clustered Spires Chorus, and Chris Gassaway. Also, for those who spend a combined total of more than $100 at two or more downtown shops or restaurants, you are invited to come out to the Snowflake tree located on Market Street and claim a free gift. All gifts on the Snowflake tree have been donated by participating area merchants.
Frozen Festivities will continue well into the afternoon and evening times along with a number of activities. Some of these enjoyments to be had include face painting, a Frosty and Frozen ® sing-a-long with two special princesses, and more. There’s something for the whole family and plenty to keep kids pleased. Also, be sure to take advantage of free hot chocolate at the Velvet Lounge and La Paz as well as free make-you-own s’mores at VOLT between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.
For older “kids” ages 21 and up, take note of the Festive Elf Happy Hour happening from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at select restaurants and bars in town. The following participants in this year’s Festive Elf Happy Hour include: Bushwaller’s, Café Nola, VINI Culture, and VOLT. These establishments will offer up special holiday drinks, exclusive to them.
The signature event to the day’s festivities will take place at 7 p.m., when Santa makes his official arrival into Everedy Square by way of a horse-drawn carriage. Come out to greet Santa Claus and see the beautiful blinking lights and bright sounds of the season throughout the square. Once Santa arrives, there will be a special, kid-friendly holiday party laden with light refreshments and Santa visits.
