This week’s Follies are fully dedicated to President King Lord Rat Obama’s “immigration” speech last night. I’ve picked five of the best/worst of his claims and offer up some Corner translation.
So pour that cup of coffee, pull up a chair and get ready to see red because: “Tis that time once again when we take stock of the inane and foolish put upon us by those forced to navigate life with an amount of gray matter just slightly larger than that found in your average toad.”
#5 But today, our immigration system is broken, and everybody knows it. Families who enter our country the right way and play by the rules watch others flout the rules. Business owners who offer their wages good wages benefits see the competition exploit undocumented immigrants by paying them far less. All of us take offense to anyone who reaps the rewards of living in America without taking on the responsibilities of living in America. And undocumented immigrants who desperately want to embrace those responsibilities see little option but to remain in the shadows, or risk their families being torn apart.
Actually Mr. President, there is nothing broken about it. We have laws on the books, we have immigration policy codified into law. What we don’t have is an administration willing to follow that law and your opening remarks admit it.
The Department of Justice could already punish businesses hiring illegals but chooses instead to sue states who dare to try to restore integrity to their ballot boxes.
Your “all of us take offense” comment is offensive on its face. You and the radical left you belong to aren’t offended by any of it or you wouldn’t now be granting millions of those undocumented illegals the reward they’ve wanted for years: to stay.
#4 When I took office, I committed to fixing this broken immigration system. And I began by doing what I could to secure our borders.
So that’s why even though you promised to bring an immigration bill to Congress in your first year you chose not to? That’s why when for a full two years, when your party had super majorities in BOTH houses of Congress you did nothing?
As for the “secure our borders” comment, a lie that big isn’t even worth a response.
#3 Although this summer there was a brief spike in unaccompanied children being apprehended at our border, the number of such children is actually lower than it’s been in nearly two years.
Overall the number of people trying to cross our border illegally is at its lowest level since the 1970s. Those are the facts.
No, those are anything BUT facts. They are as usual when words flow from your mouth, LIES. Oh to have Obama’s power. 2 plus 2 is 5, those are the facts. I said it, therefore it must be.
The number of unaccompanied children at the southern border has steadily increased from 16,000 in 2011 to over 68,000 this year. “Lower” means smaller, as in decreasing. The numerical facts are that is not the case.
As for the arresting of border crossings being so low? That’s a really good one. First you hamstring the Border Patrol from doing its job which will create lower arrest numbers, then you imply that those forced lower arrest numbers somehow mean less border crossings? That’s a Gruber if I’ve ever seen one.
#2 But until that happens, there are actions I have the legal authority to take as president, the same kinds of actions taken by Democratic and Republican presidents before me, that will help make our immigration system more fair and more just.
If you’re relying upon the New Black Panther Party case dismissing, Fast and Furious border agent killing, Ferguson race rioting instigator Eric Holder definition of “legal authority” your “authority” is as legitimate as your “if you like your plan, you can keep your plan” crap you kept repeating year after year.
And regarding those previous Presidential actions? They were cleaning up and clarifying legitimate law already passed by Congress not carving out new law to appease a political base.
#1 What I’m describing is accountability. A common sense middle- ground approach. If you meet the criteria, you can come out of the shadows and get right with the law.
“Common sense, middle-ground” are good buzzwords and fit well within the rest of the propaganda you just poured out on the American people last night but in context of your speech that’s all they are, just words.
Under the system that has kept this nation free from despots like you for over two centuries, you do not have the authority to just pluck your favored from the shadows and declare them now “right with the law”. Contrary to whatever Constitution you lectured on in Chicago, the United States Constitution places the authority to write law unequivocally with Congress, NOT the President.
And with all due respect to the office that you now sully, you haven’t known “accountability” your entire life.
I have said and written much since your coming onto the national stage (and took quite a bit of crap from liberals for doing so) around the premise that you’re really not American. Not in the birth certificate category, but in the American experience category.
Your young years abroad, your formative years being tutored by Frank Marshall Davis, your college years being passed through because of the color of your skin, being picked by Jarrett and Co. to groom you for Chicago politics and points beyond, all put you on the OUTSIDE of the American experience.
Respect for the rule of law, reverence for the Constitution and the Founders that created this country are not instilled into your very being but instead just obstacles to your objectives.
You are no more “American” than Khrushchev, Mao or Castro.
You’re on record bemoaning the “negative liberties” and constitutional constraints on government you and your “better than you” crowd want so desperately to force upon the populace.
You always have been and always will be an enemy of individual liberty, the rule of law, and the Republican form of government the founders gave us.
You will not compromise, you will not negotiate in good faith, you will do nothing but shove through what you want, when you want it.
You are more than a disgrace, you are a menace to the very essence of what it means to be “American” and the rule of law and Constitutional order that has kept us together through joy and pain, war and peace, and depression and prosperity.
Think my words too harsh? Think again.
Harsh is the pain Obama has ensured will be felt by future generations as they suffer under the trillions of new debt he’s forced upon them.
Harsh is supporting an ideology that puts the authority of an expanding administrative regulatory complex over the rights and freedoms of the American citizen.
Harsh is a President so arrogant, so narcissistic, so steeped in ideology that he becomes the very “imposture of pretend patriotism” that Washington warned.
And let us not forget that the ONLY reason there is a problem of millions of illegals here today, is that for hundreds of yesterdays we did not secure our southern border and we did not enforce the laws already on the books. This “crisis” is a crisis purely of our own making.
Those crying tears for those who chose to make their first act in this country an illegal act should spend just a little more time worrying about the future of those who did not break the law, those who work 3 jobs who should NOT have to now compete with a lawbreaker that Obama just made “right”, or those millions of children of American citizens who will now have their future, their standard of living lowered to accommodate not just the millions that Obama is bringing “out of the shadows”, but the millions more to come from his enticement of legalizing, illegality.
I don’t just say and write “America first”, I believe it with all my being. And my America, does not embrace millions of illegals placing ever growing burdens upon already maxed out social, healthcare and educational services.
And no, it has nothing to do with the majority of them being “Hispanic” from Mexico and Central America. It has EVERYTHING to do with America and her citizens having a right to determine their own future without being forced to pay for the illegal acts of foreigners.
Yes, my words are harsh, but not nearly as harsh as the damage this despot is inflicting upon this nation, today, tomorrow and God knows how long into the future.
But don’t take my word for it. Jefferson and Washington said it far more eloquently.
”When the people fear the government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.”
“Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny.”
“Government is not reason, it is not eloquence, it is force; like fire, a troublesome servant and a fearful master. Never for a moment should it be left to irresponsible action.”
And if ever in the history of America there has been “irresponsible action” it was Barack Hussein Obama last night.
