If you are looking for a thrilling, electrifying, action-packed Spring adventure then by all means head for the brand new Go Ape Treetop Adventure aerial course opening at the Mill Stream Run Reservation of the Cleveland Metroparks in Strongsville, Ohio where you will get an experience you won’t soon forget.
Go Ape Treetop Adventure With an official grand opening on Saturday, May 2, this exciting 2-3 hour outdoor adventure experience will send you soaring through the treetops (via zip lines, high ropes obstacles and tarzan swings) high above the forest canopy overlooking the Reservation including Ranger Lake and the Rocky River. The 3039 foot long course starts with participants climbing a rope ladder then swinging on two Tarzan swings from tree to tree and then soaring on 5 different zip lines (four of which are elevated above a wetland area) and maneuvering through 6 sites filled with high ropes, tricky crossings, tunnels and aerial bridges. Visitors will encounter 42 obstacles along the course including a spider’s web and a jungle crossing.
Before the adventure begins, guests will receive a 30 minute detailed safety briefing and equipment training session and will be fitted with harnesses, pulleys and carabiners.
Family and friends can follow the riders from the ground level as they navigate the course.
There are some restrictions to participating in the Go Ape Treetop Adventure. You must be at least 10 years of age, be at least 4 foot, 7 inches in height and weigh between 70 pounds and 285 pounds. You must have the ability and strength to climb a rope ladder into the trees. One participating adult ( 18 or older) is required to supervise up to 2 riders ages 10-15. Sixteen and 17 year olds do not need supervision but must have a signed waiver from a legal guardian.
Make sure you dress appropriately. Open-toed sandals, flip flops and slip- on shoes are prohibited. Sneakers or hiking shoes are recommended. Long hair must be tied back and jewelry and body piercings must be removed or taped over. If you have sensitive hands, you might want to bring a pair of gloves. The Adventure is not recommended for women who are pregnant.
Riders must arrive at least 10-15 minutes before their scheduled time.
The Treetop Adventure runs in most weather except for thunderstorms and icy conditions.
Admission to Go Ape Treetop Adventure is $55-$57 plus tax for adults (18+) and for ages 16-17 and $35 – $37 plus tax for ages 10-15. Part of the proceeds are returned to the Metroparks.
Go Ape had a soft opening on April 11 (with the official grand opening on May 2). For the rest of April they will be open only on weekends Starting in May, Go Ape will operate 5 days a week until Memorial Day (closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays) and will be open 7 days a week after Memorial Day. Parking is available in the lot near the Chalet which is also used during the winter months for the toboggan run.
