Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, who is the highest law enforcement officer in the Lone Star State, said recently President Barack Obama violated the “Take Care” Clause of the United States Constitution when he issued an executive order granting amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants, according to the Mike Wallace Show on Fox Television. Abbott, who was born in Wichita Falls, Tex., will be inaugurated as governor on Jan. 20, 2015.
“You’ve said you’re going to sue Barack Obama. Why?” asked Wallace.
“He has violated the Take Care Claluse of Article 3, Section 2 to take care to faithfully enforce the laws. At the first Constitutional Conference they said they didn’t want to allow the President to disregard enforcing some of the laws,” Abbott explained.
“He is dispensing with the immigration law as it is currently written. That was the purpose behind the Take Care to faithfully execute the constitution. This is not prosecutorial discretion. That’s when somebody decides they’re not going to prosecute somebody because of lack of resources or something like that.. The President is giving affirmative benefits to those who are not legally here,” the Governor-Elect of Texas further said.
“Experts say the states may have a greater chance to show damage than the U.S. Congress as a result of the executive order. What harm will Texas suffer?” asked Wallace.
“Texas suffered direct consequences from the 2012 DACA. We began to see a thousand people a day coming across the border. They started turning thsemslves in to border patrol agents. We believe we’re going to face the same consequences now we did afater the 2012 DACA. The people coming across the border from Central America are not normally legal scholars. It was the drug cartels in Mexico who were telling people they could come to Texas. We are spending $15 million a month just for law enforcement. We have thousands of children who come here as unaccompanied minors who are in Texas schools now and Texans are having to foot the bill. I sent a letter to Jay Johnstone asking the federal government to reimburse the state of Texas for the expenses we are incurring. That proves the same thing is going to happen in the afternmath of this act.”
“You say these illegal executive orders are increasing illegal immigration? That is costing the state more money?”
“We think we have standing better than any other state to be able to assert this claim against the president,” Abbott further said.
“This will be the 31st lawsuit you have filed against this president. Why?” asked Wallace.
“Because this president more than any other president has abdicated his responsibility to uphold and to enforce the constitution. I have won a majority of these cases. We have a president who seems unconstrained by the United States Constitution.”
“You have called him a lawless chief executive. Really?”
“Whenever the president of the United States doesn’t follow the law, but adamanatly refuses to follow the law, that is the epitome of lawlessness. The way he has unilaterally altered the terms of Obamacare. That leads to dire consequences for the future if we don’t have attorneys general making sure he follows the law,” the next governor of Texas said.
With his election as governor of Texas, Abbott has found himself suddenly thrust into the center of the highest profile issue in America today. The significance of the issue of America being able to have a southern border could impact upon how long the United States continues to exist as a sovereign country.
The famous History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire has caused many to draw parallels between Rome and the United States. Could America fall like the Romans did? In 410 AD, the Goths besieged Rome. As author Edward Gibbon explains, the Roman authorities were preparing a defense. However, they were unable to guard against the secret conspiracy of their slaves and domestics, who either from birth or interest “were attached to the cause of the enemy.”
Gibbon further records in his historical masterpiece that at midnight, disloyal Romans silently opened one of the city’s gates. Then most Romans “were awakened by the tremendous sound of the Gothic trumpet”, as the enemy rushed in, according to a recent article in Breitbart.
While the weakening of Rome was a gradual process which occurred over many years, the nature of the loyalty of the population is extremely important. This is a lesson of history.
Texas and America are both fortunate to have a strong leader in Greg Abbott who is not afraid to fight the battle to defend this nation’s borders. As philosopher George Santayana once said, “He who forgets history, is doomed to repeat it.”
